K replaced router #1 (the one immediately after the modem) with a new compact linksys... whose address is 192.168.1.1

thats cool.

however, my 2nd linksys router WRT54G-CA... which is down the line from it (plugged into the first) I can no longer log in to.

When the older #1 router was in place, I believe to get into router 2 I went to 192.168.2.1....

either way I could log into both seperately

No address I've been trying will get me into router 2.... how do I do that?

I've tried .0.0-2, .1.0-2, and .2.0-2... and other random addresses.... nothing

Unplug it from the first one, log in to it, and then try to make sure it doesn't attempt to hijack 192.168.1.* range?

To elaborate, disconnect the router you CAN get into from the network, then you should be able to get into your second one with 192.168.1.1.

On the main page you should see the "local IP address" and you should be able to change what it is. I don't THINK you have to mess with the subnet mask, but you may have to.

    Awesome.

And remember to lock them down with passwords, especially if one of them is wireless.

I've had to help SO many people set their stuff straight after someone went wardriving with 192.168.1.1 bookmarked.
