Meaningful sex scenes in films: The Name of the Rose. Furthers the plot, serves the purpose of characterisation - and man, is it hot. (I saw it when I was 12. Very educational movie.)
You know that was originally a novel right?
I do (and I don't think I gave you all that much reason to be patronising) - but the scene from the movie stayed with me, whereas there's little in the novel that did. For some reason Eco's brand of cleverness rubs me the wrong way in his fiction, while I find it quite interesting in his essays.
