Firefox shortcuts and streaming video

So, whenever I'm on a page that contains video (like, say Youtube or The Escapist), keyboard shortcuts in Firefox (like Ctrl-T for new tab) don't work. I have to click the button or use the menus.

Anyone else noticed this? Is there a fix? Or is it just me?

Once you start playing the video, you're in that frame, rather than on the page as a whole. Clicking somewhere on the page will let you use the shortcuts again.

I don't know how to prevent it, though.

Yeah, I tried that, and it does work. Good enough. I figured it was just a focus-pull, but it's a shame it has to happen at all.
