My favourite band in the whole wide world is
British Sea Power. They aren't super famous outside of Britain (though they were nominated for the Mercury Music Prize in 2008 and have played on Letterman) but they are super good, and it's always saddened me that their touring has largely been restricted to the Northern Hemisphere.
Two days ago one of their "Newsboosts" arrived in my inbox bearing wonderful news: Not only are they coming to Australia next year, they're coming to Perth! My home town! (They're playing the International Arts Festival on the 17th and 18th of February).
Then I thought, "Seeing them play will be great, sure, but wouldn't it be better to meet them too?" So in a fit of unrealistic joy I sent an e-mail to their manager saying that: a) I was a huge fan, b) I sometimes wrote articles for the student newspaper at my university, c) I had never interviewed a musician in my life, d) could I interview them?
Tonight I received his reply:
Yes, I can interview them, and could I also write an advance featurette on them to drum up interest for the gigs?
YEEEEEEEEEEEEESSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSS
Now that I've got that off my chest I guess you can use this thread to talk about your first-hand experiences of fortune favouring the bold. Tips on interview technique will also be appreciated.

Dear satan I wish for this or maybe some of this....oh and I'm a medium or a large.

that should pretty much set the tone for the rest of the interview
From what I know of them they're more into bird watching and European history.
Maybe I can introduce them to Kate Beaton comics!
In fairness, I suppose just sending an e-mail isn't particularly bold in itself.
Thanks! I've just got to stay calm but alert. Past experience has taught me that an Irish coffee is the best thing for this (having one beforehand helped me pass my driving test).
is giving a lecture at my school next Friday. I'm so excited. Hot and bothered even
as it is, I read his stuff pretty much solely for the entertainment value
You what?
who says they aren't well known
I am moderately fond of British Sea Power myself, and I envy your bravery.
The one time I manned up (metaphorically speaking) to talk to one of my favourite bands (The Builders and the Butchers) it was after their gig and they were all just kind of exhausted from touring across the country, sitting around, drinking bottles of water.
I, on the other hand, was stupidly intoxicated and chatty.
