We now return to our regularly scheduled PA Forums. Please let me (Hahnsoo1) know if something isn't working. The Holiday Forum will remain up until January 10, 2025.
January 2, 2007 - (...) Due out this spring for Xbox 360 and PC, Two Worlds is expected to fill in a bit of the gap that is opening now that people are finally getting their fill of The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion. (...)
(...) Unlike Oblivion, Two Worlds will be playable online with up to eight players. Though it won't be ready for launch, we were told that the game would eventually have support for PC and Xbox 360 users to play together. PC users will be able to create their own maps and quests and then upload them for others to use. (...)
Though you will be able to go questing online (there won't be any offline co-operative mode) with your friends, there will be a fully realized story mode that you'll have to tackle by yourself. (...)

Mounts are in and you can expect to hop on a horse (or something more exotic from the lizard family) to travel across the large environment. Fighting can also be done while mounted with some jousting thrown in for good measure.
That looks very very nice, but is it Oblivion with some things added? Or a new story.
Those screens look really familiar, and the city in the bottom reminds me too much of whatever that city was in oblivion... cyrodil?
I can't remember.
Yeah... they stole (THEY STOLE!) a lot of ideas from Bethesda but if it helps make a better game, I couldn't care less basically. I'm just looking for something to tide me over until TES V is released.
EDIT: It is however a completely new game, it has nothing to do with TES whatsoever.
The only way this could really kill Oblivion is by adding more diverse creatures and worlds, and by making the quests feel more solid, because on most random quests in Oblivion, while in concept really good quests, felt buggered down by the games "Radiantly bad discussion A.I"
From the GFW preview, it sounded like Two Worlds was more of a combination of Gothic 3 (with its reputation junk) and Oblivion, with Mount & Blade's mounted combat.
It's by a Polish developer I've never heard of though, so all bets are off as to whether it'll actually be playable on release.

Just once I'd like to see a fantasy game that doesn't have you standing toe to toe with wildlife, locked in an epic battle.

I still think Fable is the epic adventure with the most potential so far. If Petey-boy can utilise half of what he wants to it COULD be epic. Just wish he'd get over the aging thing. Nothing more annoying than upgrading your magic and looking more and more like a wrinkled, feck-ugly prune instead of a legend in the making.

I can understand it when your character is a low level. There are some very dangerous wildlife.
Which will run away from you a vast majority of the time, as soon as you approach them or make a loud noise.
Well, then what is a low level person supposed to fight? Bandits generally don't attack a well armed muscular warrior who may or may not have good loot.
Multiplayer. That is a huge addition to me. Oblivion and morrowind are like Massively Singleplayer Offline Games. I always think I will like them and then realize that a world like that just feels barren and lifeless without any other players. It would be much more fun to take a party through a game like that. The game would have to be VERY good at scaling difficulty though.
IMO the difficulty should have NOTHING to do with the local inhabitants but instead be about missions that are given out/exploration.
Now that you added more screens I noticed something. Everything apart from the terrain looks like ass. Look at that green monster, and the wolf thing (seriously what the hell is that?) in the last screen. What the hell?

I don't give a shit.
If a game is setting me up to be the savior of the universe, it better not fucking start me off on pest control. This is a "time honored" tradition of RPGs, and it needs to goddamn die. Been there, done that, let's skip the bullcrap and get on with the story.
Instead of setting me loose in the wild with nothing but a loincloth, give some decent gear and make the lowest level enemies bandits so I feel like I'm actually accomplishing something.
Meh. I'm not too impressed. Though the pic of the chick by the window seems to imply that there is a seemless transition between indoors and outdoors, which is great.
Other than that, the graphics look really...bland.
As far as Mr. Touchdown up there goes.... it must get really annoying trying to eat with horns in front of your mouth.
How far along is this game? If it isn't still in Alpha, I'm prepared to write it off now.

Oblivion is ridiculously popular, although I'm not sure of the actual numbers shown.
This game appears to be a combination of Oblivion and Mount & Blade. Aka: The second best thing ever.
The best thing ever would be Morrowind 2.
"I hear the Neravarine has led an expedition into Akavir."

I have a sinking feeling if it isn't delayed to 2008 it will be terrible.
Bandits.
Don't look too dangerous to me.
Ever hit one with a sword? They don't like it. Trust me...

I just try to ignore and not patronize too badly the people who would use such verbage.

It might not be great, but it deserves to be immediately written off why?
You people are crazy.
