To be fair, does Kratos have a projectile like the Holy Cross?

I did giggle at the little health fountains though. Completely GoW derivative.

It's a 3d brawler and the guy has some red on his outfit, not really time for tinfoil hats.

It really goes beyond that. You'd have to play it to see just how many things it borrows from GoW. Even the most subtle stuff, like transitions between levels, or the screaming orchestral chants, and even the way cutscenes are shown.

They even had the audacity to rip off stuff from the God of War 3 demo, like hijiking a huge monster to smash other monsters.

You'd think this game would at least have the advantage on boobs, but nope, in-game nipples look just as awful here as they did in GoW.

Wasn't that the basis for a whole Crash Bandicoot game as well as part of the brute fights in Batman AA?

I will play the demo and come back to you guys but there comes a time when you need to accept certain things as just being gameplay elements and not listing them as derivatives of some other game.

Even so, if the game is fun then who cares? I quite like the God of War games so if I can play another similar game then I'm not really that fussed.

All reminds me of embittered musos who think that music hasn't moved on since the 60's and everything new is worthless rehashes of what has gone before :D

EDIT: finally tracked the game down on the US store as the silly PAL store is behind again. Downloading now!

I think there's a difference between borrowing gameplay elements and wholeheartedly copying an entire game. The red orbs are there (as white souls), the green+blue ones are there (same colour souls), the chests are there (as altars), the enemy types are there (Zombie Legionnaires, Minotaurs and Cyclops' all make appearances), the controls are there (right down to right analog stick to dodge) and the UI is too. Hell, even the soundtrack sounds exactly the same.

The game plays fine and is just like any 3d brawler, I quite like the artwork.

As for collectibles you can say the same of rings in bayonetta or red orbs in Devil May Cry.

Plus it's set in hell, what do you think suits there instead of bone armor and skeletons/zombies?

You're also drawing comparisons based on the fact it has an orchestral score??

God of War 1 and 2 were at the height of playstation 2 gaming, if anything call this an homage to the gameplay with it's own theme but calling it a copycat or ripoff is a bit unfair in my opinion.

Are you serious? A homage takes elements from something and mixes it with its own, this game is God of War with a new set of clothes.

I wasn't saying they ripped the idea of having undead enemies, I was saying that the enemy types are exactly the same. As in, there's a fairly quick normal sized enemy that can be killed fairly easily (undead legionnaire), a bigger, slower enemy that's a bit tougher (minotaur) and then a huge, really slow enemy that's really tough (cyclops).

As for the score, yeah, I'm saying they're exactly the same because they're orchestral. Just like I say Final Fantasy XIII and God of War have the same score, right? Don't be ridiculous. I said that because they sound the same. It's as if they just gave the composer the God of War soundtrack and told him to make some music like that.

UnbreakableVow: Because ripping off someone elses work is lazy and a sign that they're apparently untalented (the guys calling the shots anyway). Also, I'm fine playing the God of War Collection and God of War 3? I'm already buying at least a half dozen other games in Q1.

I'd agree with most of that in principle (haven't tried the demo myself), except maybe the last part.
Didn't Visceral Games develop Dead Space? There's quite a few people who like that game a lot.

A game that has different sizes of enemies with small/fast grunts leading up to medium then large and they get slower and harder hitting is not revolutionary I agree but it is certainly not the sole premise of GoW and any game using that setup is a rip off.

Just like Unbreakable Vow said, I'm not sure why people are complaining about having an extra game in the genre they obviously care about.

The similarity is that they are in the same genre and an underpopulated one at that. If the game existed in a more heavily populated genre such as first person shooters then I'm sure that less comparisons would be getting drawn.

    On a separate note:

Just played pixel junk shooters and it's a really fun little game, just had to drag myself away to get some stuff sorted before going away for the weekend. Oh well at least I have something to look forward to when I get back.

Same studio, different team. I'd guess that it's the same team that made 'The Simpsons Game' (while Jack the Ripper is probably being made by the Godfather 1+2 team and Dead Space 2 is, of course, being made by the Dead Space team).

Adda: I'm really not sure how you can't see this, the similarity isn't just that they're 'in the same genre', it's that they're nearly the same exact game!

Look, Devil May Cry and Ninja Gaiden are in the same genre as God of War and Dante's Inferno, right? And while they do have some similarities, they are still quite different and unique from each other, right? The only real difference between Dante's Inferno and God of War is that they look a bit different but even then, there are still things that seem to be derived from GoW (like the stupid cross on his chest).

If you liked the PS1 frogger, you might like this. It's pretty much just enhanced arcade. It's worth the price IMO.

So, can someone with account activation experience help me?

My sister-in-law Melanie comes over and plays Peggle on my PS3 on her own user profile. She had earned some trophies, so I got her to make a PSN id and sign in to sync them up. She just bought a PS3, so I copied her game saves onto a USB stick and copied them onto her "Melanie" user profile on her PS3. I then made a "Brandon" user profile on her PS3, signed into PSN, and downloaded Peggle. Once Peggle was on her PS3, she logged in as "Melanie" and started to play it, but it said that since the game savedata was copied from elsewhere, no trophies can be earned unless the savedata was deleted.

    1. I did not mess with account activation at all, yet I was able to download a PSN game on a different PS3, then another user on that PS3 was able to play it. Is this normal? Did it automatically activate my account on Mel's PS3?

    2. You cannot earn trophies on a second PS3? I was planning on loading my Ratchet and Clank save from the mem card onto her PS3 and finish the game up while Mel and my wife are shopping. Will this not work?

I don't get this whole trophies/game sharing/activation thing. Anyone know?

EDIT: Searching around the internet is getting me conflicting answers, but it may be because Melanie's PSN id was created AFTER the trophies were earned (as an aside, when she goes to the leaderboards in Peggle, her PSN id name is nowhere to be found, probably because her save was started when she was not logged into PSN).

She'll have no issue starting Peggle from scratch again on her own PS3. I'm still looking for confirmation that if I load up my R&C save on her PS3 and progress both in the story and trophies, I can then copy the saved file back to my USB, sync up my trophies, go home, transfer the save from USB to my PS3, and continue from there with no "activation" or "copied savedata" issues.

So long as you're using the same PSN ID, your R&C save should work perfectly fine. If it doesn't work, try changing your User Profile to whatever it is on your PS3. I'm not entirely sure whether saves are attached to the User Profile or the PSN ID but I'd guess it's the latter.

Actually, I have played with LBP and GoW saves on a different console. The only difference from the scenario above is that I was signed in to PSN on the second console before I imported the save. That isn't mentioned in the post above, and I can only assume that because of that the save appears to be from a different user. Later, I brought the GoW save back home and imported, and still get Trophies.

In other words, delete the save data, get her signed in to PSN, then import the save data.

At least in the NA Store there is a Free Comics section to pick them out easily (Don't know about PAL, would assume there is one there as well) The Comic Store is set to update every Thursday like the Game store. (Well, next week the store Updates Tuesday again, so as to not coincide with Christmas Eve.)

I'm diggin' it. The reader is pretty slick and while I'm not a big comic book guy, the ones I've read through this have been pretty good. Can't wait to see how the first update goes come Tuesday.

Huh, they're not actually priced that badly. If they had any comics I wanted that I didn't already own, I'd probably pick up a few. Hopefully they can get DC on board pretty soon, though who knows if that'll ever happen considering how backwards they can be at times.

Ridiculous that they don't have this running on PS3 as well though. I'd really like to know what the communications like within Sony, if they communicate at all in the first place.

Lastly, I'd really recommend Astonishing X-Men to anyone that hasn't read it. Pity they don't have the last issue of Joss Whedon's run though (which wrapped everything up).

I've wanted to read World War Hulk and Civil War for ages. I'll grab WWH ASAP, and Civil War when it goes up.

This is just me taking a shot in the dark, but I'd bet that DC stuff will either be up relatively quickly thanks to the whole working partnership between DC and SOE, -or- close to the release of DC Online for, y'know, hyping/advertising purposes. I'd hope for the former, but the latter is entirely possible as well.

I'm really not confident of anything happening. Maybe the recent management shake-up has changed things but in the past DC have generally been very slow to react to new technology (and that's slow in an already slow moving industry, so they're pretty sloth-like).

I'd be most excited about Vertigo title being put up on there, there are a few series I'd like to dip into.

It's one of the Marvel storylines I thought looked interesting. I tend to buy things I find interesting.

Ok... having a problem with the ps3..

About 3 years ago I split the cost of a ps3 with a roommate. I moved out and he got the ps3. Fast forward to a couple months ago and now I own my very own ps3 again. I import the account I had on the first ps3. Now I'm trying to buy shit and I can't. The store tells me I have insufficient funds in my wallet.

I google search wallet, and the google says I can add funds by going to PSN network -> account management -> Transaction management -> [Add funds]

.... except there's no option listed to add funds.

I read online that there are sub accounts and main accounts. This confuses me. How then do I create a main account so that I can give sony my money?

so apparently FFVIII is coming soon.

they need to release Chronicles and Anthology.

I wonder if they'd do that as individual 4,5,6, Chrono Trigger releases, or as the dual disc sets if they released it...

I just got a PS3, but I haven't bought anything from the PSN store yet. Is PixelJunk Shooter a good place to start? Or one of their earlier games? I'd like to try Flower and Fat Princess as well.

Interesting. So your account was a sub-account of your roommates account? If so then you'll have to create a new account by making a new User Account and then going to the PSN icon and creating an entirely new PSN account.

ManetherenWolf: They released Final Fantasy 1 seperately on the Japanese PSN, so yeah, if they do release those games, they'll probably do so individually.

elevature: The PixelJunk series isn't really a series per se, so you can jump in anywhere. PixelJunk Shooter is a great place to start. I'd also highly recommend Flower, Wipeout HD and Shatter.

I'd bet anything that Tetris isn't compatible because EA wants to sell a separate PS3 version for ten more dollars.

I noticed with the latest update (not the optional one) that the controllers sometimes wont sync with the PS3. Normally a restart of the PS3 will fix it. If not, then the link above is probably what you are looking for.

    Yes, thanks, that definitely helps.
