First and Foremost, I got Mod Approval for this

2006 360Arcadians Games of the Year

We are doing our 360 GOTY for the main site, and giving forumers the ability to chime in on each category.

Today is sports, and we will be putting a new category up every day until we hit the GOTY itself, around a week from now.

Oh, and even though its on the forums, guests can vote in these threads. One vote per IP, you know the drill.

Starting tomorrow, we will be posting GOTY articles on the front page, giving Staff opinions on the best titles in each genre, and announcing the winner of the polls.

In what will probably be a very one sided vote, pick from the four RPGs that were released in 2006.

Downloadable Content
What was the best Downloadable content released in 2006? DLC has long been an issue that has divided and angered the community. Everything from five dollar horse armor to buying cheat codes has risen to the surface, annoying gamers and hurting the image of Microtransactions.

However, amidst all of the negativity, there have been some absolute gems that have released over 2006, and fulfilled the promise of Microtransactions, validating its purpose.

Select your favorite game that was enhanced by DLC in 2006.

The Best Shooter of 2006

Even though some might THINK Gears is a shoe in on this category, it is going against some heavy hitters like Ghost Recon: Advanced Warfighter, Call of Duty 3 And Rainbow Six: Vegas. Other cult favorites like Prey and Battlefield: Modern Combat might take some votes as well.

And since I am not one of the writers doing the sports article, I'll go ahead and say which game I liked the most in the sports genre.

Smackdown Vs. Raw 2007

The control system was deep, but accessible, the graphics were solid, the gameplay was good, and the create a rassler allowed you to make pretty much whatever the hell you wanted, given you had the patience.

Eh usually Madden would be my pick for this (2007) as 2006 was a bastard of a game. However, anyone and I do mean ANYONE who played Fight Night Round 3 on a nice big HDtv like me knows precisely which game deserves to be the sports game of the year. Boxing is a sport!!! If you think thats the fighting game of the year then I would have to say NCAA Football was just leaps and bounds better then Madden.

Ya the counter system is a bit weird, but the customization was really cool how you could change up how your fighter fought and even how he countered; by switching his defense style to like the turtle or what not. The fact that it got rid of unnecessary and clunky health bars and kind of immersed you into that experience really was a great idea. Also when you play your friends drunk and you get knocked down thats always a fun exercise in trying to figure out which blurriness is the right one. Its also one of the more watchable spectator games as it looks like a real fight, which counts for a lot in my book... if I am not playing I'd like to enjoy the show.

Anyway, I voted for SvR07. It's so, so good. Fight Night Round 3 is a close second for me.

There were actually quite a few good racing games for the 360 this past year. From Test Drive Unlimited, to Burnout Revenge, to the quirky yet fun Pocket Bike Racing. What 360 racers dominated your time in 2006?

I voted for TDU but it was a tough choice between TDU or Burnout 3. TDU wins in my books mainly because it took a tired old genre, and completely energized it.
