Two days! I am excited to play this. Anything else you guys would recommend for getting up to speed other than the OP? It seems pretty comprehensive. Might be dated. I dunno!

The OP is dated but I doubt there's been any major changes since the first beta so should still be accurate.
Also I had a look in the maps folder for the preloaded game, there's 8 files there, so 8 maps I guess? More than what we got in the first beta, in any case.
RUSE beta should be going live in a few hours, barring any problems. We're probably going to arrange games through the PA ventrilo like we did with the closed beta, so feel free to pop in for a game.
It showed up on Steam list, so I downloaded it. (Pumped those gigs in 5mins flat, go go 100mbs connections). I have no idea what I'm doing, but certainly interested in trying it out..
It's an interesting game for sure. I'm curious about how well it plays larger than 1v1, but there isn't enough hype or enough people playing at this point.
Actually having useful infantry is a welcome differentiation from the norm.

The game plays very fast as well.
I've had a couple 4v4s already. There's plenty of people playing online right now and the number will only increase over the next few days.
This is a great game - the beta has pretty much consumed my entire day. Eugen's last game, Act of War, is one of my favorite RTS games and had a lot of new, really cool features that other RTS games hadn't done yet, but it also had a lot that needed to be improved upon. So I was disappointed when I heard they were developing RUSE and not Act of War II, since RUSE looked like just another WW2 strategy game, with a bit of Axis and Allies twist. But the game is fantastic in actual gameplay, so I'm glad I was wrong about it.
Sooo I'm terrible at this game. What do I do? Haha
Play 1v1 against the computer. Get supply depots, build units, press tab when mousing over them. Range is an important stat, and what type of target the unit hits hard.
Also RUSE is a game of hard counters, tactics, and ruse shenanigans. If you need to kill tanks, other tanks are probably not going to do that well, so get the antitank or fighter bombers. Camo netting your first building against humans is a good tactic to make sure they don't get a hard counter right away, since you can see everyone's buildings whenever they build them, unless the sector is ruse'd.
1v1, my opponent tried to paratroop rush with USA. 7 planes in all but only 1 made it to the drop zone thanks to my $20 bunkers. The poor paratroopers that made it didn't even hit the ground. That player promptly quit and kicked me when I join another game he hosted.
In all the 2v2s I played, I start with tank factory then build a scout car and a couple B1 bis heavy tanks. I get a fake airfield, then send a bunch of fake planes flying everywhere. My opponents, weary of para rush themselves, I guess, proceed to build artillery/AA base, which has nothing to counter my heavy tanks. Then I just drive straight to their base and it's gg for every game.
so you guys who are playing this, any ideas on how well this will translate to the 360?
quite excellently I'd imagine. There's no real need for fast zipping across the map, and unit selection is pretty easy. no individual unit abilities to micro, etc etc.
One point to mention, is to be wary of the early game British paratrooper rush. My partner yesterday won us maybe 6 games in a row in the first 5 minutes using that tactic.
Also, I finally got a couple 4vs4 games in, it was EPIC. This game is definetely getting purchased first day. The scope of things you can do is amazing, as well as the pace.
not playing the beta as I don't have a PC that could handle it (waiting for 360). So just got some questions as I'm trying to understand this game a bit more just from reading.
Looking at all the faction cards in the OP I'm seeing that each faction has a total of 13 points distributed differently through the categories.
Are there any ways to alter these stats? Like maybe an in game modifier item? or how about a mode where you get to assign your 13 points to whatever categories you'd like?
just wondering how things will keep from becoming set strategies. Seeing the UK is strong in Aerial combat. Will you always plan against air units if playing against UK? How difficult would it be for UK to win using non aerial based tactics?
are the deceptions enough or varied to keep players from just sticking to the strong points of a set faction?
There are no points to distribute - the graphs are abstract representations of the differences between factions. They don't exist in that form in the actual game - there's just units, and those units all have different stats. The end result being that British have a strong air line-up and the US units produce faster, for example.
Bridger (of Tales of Heroes fame) has released his first 2 shoutcasts for the RUSE beta. They're actually more like introductions to the game for the uninitiated with a lot of advice and tips for new players. Thought someone might get some use out of them.
hey, so, this game. I'm confused when it comes to multiple units that fulfill the same role, because why you'd want to use one above the other is somewhat unclear. For example, the german's two experimental artillery; one looks like a traditional cannon and the other fires rocket salvos. They both say they're deadly against buildings, they're both fragile as hell, but one cost like $20 more than the other.

One fires a small number of high damage shells at a longer range, the other fires a salvo of lesser damage rounds in a larger impact radius.
There's a lot of subtle strategies you can use to have a different effect. One thing I've found is that infantry hidden in the bush near main supply routes or in towns can really screw up an armored advance if they don't have supporting infantry.
Also, placing AA nests in the bush along suspected aerial attack lanes usually equals a lot of dead aircraft.
Wow, it fairly easy to intimidate someone into surrender at this point, though I'm sure people will catch on.
Yeah, noone has heard of delaying actions it seems. I've already successfully lead someone into a "supposed" weak spot on my line, only to have his assault surrounded and wiped out by the defences in depth.
Unfortunately being a new game, a lot of people don't try to put up a fight as soon as they lose a few things.
RUSE is not like other RTS games where if you lose your entire tank rush you're probably screwed. If you've been quietly seeding your territory with AA, AT and infantry sections, you're pretty safe from any immediate counter attack.
**EDIT** - RUSE rewards offensive AND defensive minded players. You can spend an entire game just beefing up your territory while your buddies go on the attack.

The more shit they throw at you that dies the more points you get. You can literally just sit there in a well defended hole for the entire 20 minutes and win.
The first time I won like that I had 2 aa and one anti tank emplacments and just my aa base left, but I won by 200 points.
