Mouse Acceleration

I recently installed Deus Ex 1 on steam, and it comes with a metric shitload of built in mouse acceleration. I've found a way round it, but it makes me wonder;
Does anybody on this forum actually LIKE mouse acceleration in their games? Why do so many games include it?
Because I've never met a single person who likes it! How about you lot?
Mouse acceleration is a horrible, horrible thing for any game that requires even a modicum of precision clicking, and annoying still in those that don't.
The brain likes consistency, and if you want to improve precision then sensitivity should be kept equal in the usage of everything on the computer. It goes without saying that it's a lot harder to get more precise when the sensitivity is constantly changing.

The brain likes consistency, and if you want to improve precision then sensitivity should be kept equal in the usage of everything on the computer. It goes without saying that it's a lot harder to get more precise when the sensitivity is constantly changing.
See this is what confuses me. Why would any game include it as a default? It drives me up the wall.
Actually, I think that Deus Ex and most other Unreal Engine games detect your mouse settings from Windows and use them in the game, for that consistency that you were talking about.

Actually, I think that Deus Ex and most other Unreal Engine games detect your mouse settings from Windows and use them in the game, for that consistency that you were talking about.
Not in this case, as I have acceleration turn off by default (on every possible windows and logitech setting).
