Wing Sauce from Scratch

So I've been learning to cook, and I'm interested in learning how to make my own wings.
Most of the recipes I've come across involve doctoring up some Frank's Red Hot. I'm looking for more of a from scratch thing. Anyone have any recommendations?
Buffalo sauce is ridiculously easy, and in mostly a matter of finding the right proportions. Ming Tsai has a ton of recipes of his website if you want fancier or more complex.
The basic form of your traditional wing sauce is simply melted butter and a hot sauce of your choice. The variations of this is where you can get creative and mend it to your own taste. If you want a sweeter sauce try adding brown sugar, honey, etc. For more kick and heat add anything from cumin, cayenne pepper, etc. Try out some variations you think will be good in very small batches until you get what you like.

Yeah, unless you want to make your own hot sauce, the most basic it gets is melted butter + Hot Sauce of choice. I mince up a clove or two of garlic into it.

Making my own hot sauce is exactly what I had in mind.

Tabasco sauce is a mass-produced brand of hot sauce made from tabasco peppers (Capsicum frutescens var. tabasco), vinegar, and salt, and aged in white oak barrels for three years. It has a hot, spicy flavor and is popular in many parts of the world.
Hot sauce might be one of those things you can't conveniently make at home.
This is my favourite, however, please experiment with small amounts and be prepared to bin your first five attempts.
Combine finely grated ginger root, chopped chilies, choppt garlic, and chopped green onions in a pre-heated pan with butter. Butter is the key. I mean real butter, eh! No oil! When the garlic bits turn transparent, pour in coconut milk and add sugar and salt to taste. I luv this sauce because whenever I adjust one of the first three ingredients, I get something different. Anyway, this is great with poultry... any sort of poultry.
i think if i wanted to do a wing sauce from scratch i would try something besides the tried and true franks version and go with some fancy smancy recipes.
Make your own teriyaki sauce instead. Easy, and delicious, and a great change of pace from regular hot wings.
Plus, you can add sriracha or red pepper flake to spice it up if you like. It's really just low sodium soy sauce, brown sugar, garlic, ginger, and whatever else you like. I like to add a bit of honey instead of part of the sugar, and sometimes a tiny pinch of lime zest. Combine and reduce to the consistency you like.

Just don't kill anyone.
