So yeah, I have the best boyfriend.
He picked up Beautiful Katamari, Fable 2, and FarCry 1 (it came free with the other 2). I spent all day Sunday playing Fable/Katamari and now want to play catch up with the rest of the world.
Going to get:
Dragon Age
Mass Effect 2 upon release
Bioshock 2 upon release
Fallout 3 GOTY edition.
Need for Speed: Undercover (I know there are better racing games, but I like the soundtrack to this one)
FarCry 2 if I like the first one
Assasin's Creed
Moar? Bonus points for weird/offbeat/diamond in the rough games.

I mean, assuming you haven't played it already on the PC or whatever.
I'd recommend Viva Pinata: Trouble in Paradise and Batman: Arkham Asylum
> Crackdown <
You can direct download this now I believe.
Split-screen with your boyfriend for extra good times.
The Division, Warframe (XB1)
GT: Tanith 6227
Well, they both have a lot of foliage.
Orange Box-played everything but TF2 which I DO want to play and will add to my list, thanks!
ME1 was okay....the gameplay didn't really grab me, but I was watching someone else play it. I figure I should give ME2 a shot though.
I really liked Bioshock 1, but I had to play it on a PC and then one day my comp deleted all my save games. I was just at the end of the part with the plant level. I can't deal with repeating stuff and honestly have decided after that that PC games just isn't worth it (4 hours of dicking with the settings or pop it in and play instantly? Consoles please.)
OMG Borderlands holy crap yes
The prices for the games on there are horrid. I really don't understand the reasoning behind it. The only games you can get on DD are older titles, yet these older titles are easily found for $20 or less brand new, let alone finding used copies for like 10 or 15 bucks. Why would you clog up your tiny hard drive and pay twice as much?
Assassin's Creed 2. You're getting the first one, so after you beat it you'll likely want to play its older, more mature, hard-edged brother. He's got an attitude, and he doesn't care who knows it.
Gears of War 2 (Awesome fun, especially if your BF will play co-op with you!)
Ace Combat 6 - Also awesome fun
Tom Clancy's HAWX - Didn't like it as much as AC6, but still enjoyable.
Keep the suggestions comin folks.
Gears of War 2 (great for online play, slower pace makes it easier to jump in and enjoy then Halo)
Borderlands (best game for the Xbox so far, in my opinion)
Star Wars: The Force Unleashed (if you like Star Wars games, this is a pretty fun little game)
Prince of Persia [Newest] (Great platform game, the puzzles are pretty fun, and its amazing how much time can pass just running around)
Section 8 (AWESOME shooter, got blasted in the reviews, and its online playerbase is pretty low, but its tons of fun)
Mass Effect (Amazing RPG.)
Fallout 3 (duuurr)
Fable 2 (you said you own this, so...)
Crackdown (Ridiculous fun, great for team play, just overall a great investment)
If you like the flight combat sims, you should check out IL-2.
Play it on hard mode like a hard man.
Alternatively, donate your elite to me because my Pro burned out last month
FarCry isn't bad at all. It's good in fact. It's pretty old now, I guess, but it should hold up pretty well. I was playing the sequel recently and have found it very enjoyable. The sequel is more of a sandbox game in the vein of Mercenaries, except first person, whilst the original is more of a 'linear' shooter, although I put that in quotes because the environment is very expansive, at least in the outdoor sections.
Oh, also it's worth noting re Mass Effect - the sequel is a direct sequel, you'll even be able to import your character, so it may be worth playing through the original again yourself.
It's not even up for debate, shut up and buy it.
This goes the same for PS3 and PC owners.
I tried the demo and didn't really like using the control pad to fly. Every time I tried to turn even the slightest bit, I just spiraled out of control. It was infuriating. If I had a decent joystick for the 360 I'd give it a shot.
Yeah, on easy flight mode it does a lot of compensating for aggressive manoeuvres but then the game is a bit too easy. On the other hand, in advanced flight mode it's basically interpreting the joypad controls literally, so having a proper joystick would certainly make fine control easier although even then you need to treat it like a real flight stick - hauling back and left hard even with a proper stick is still going to throw you into a flat spin. It's lots of fun though and a really nice WWII flight sim, worth persevering with getting used to being gentle with the joypad or even getting a joystick, I'd wager.
What's that? That copy of Deadliest Catch over there? No - don't look at that. I ... it was a gift.

I say probably because whilst I love FO3, fantasy RPGs don't really hold my interest in the same way. Although, that said I must've still put a good few hours into Oblivion on the PC before getting bored of it.
Also, Prototype Y/N?
I second this.
It's such a great game.
3DS FC: 5343-7720-0490
I'll go ahead and third it. Truly great value for money and a real in-depth gaming experience.
Borderland is something I would also recommend, considering I rented it and it was fun. I had it about 5 days overdue when I had finally returned it. It a blast, considering they weren’t kidding about the shit load of weapons and character skill customization. The game also comes with a 4 player coop mode, but sadly I never got a chance to try out that feature. At a certain point I got bored of it when It started to get a bit repetitive, having to run to sell you stuff just to make some room in your inventory.
Dragon age: origins is a must, I rented it and had a blast. That game is addictively awesome, despite some flaws that should have otherwise been fatal for it. I don’t think I have to go over the good points, considering you are already planning to buy it, but there are a few things that you should know before you do. At certain points the graphic looks a bit pixilated and reminisce of the Nintendo 64/PlayStation graphics. They have seriously the worst trees I ever seen. Another problem was if you accidentally click back in the character creation screen, you have to recreate the character from scratch again, name and everything. That was pain-staking annoying after the third time. I believe that once you kill an enemy, they do not respawn. I remember visiting some areas after ages of last being there, only to still find the dead bodies of my enemies still littering the ground. I didn't encounter an enemy attack in that area ever again. Lastly, you will find yourself later on running in and out of dungeons to due to your inventory quickly filling up. There is no storage in this game, unless you by the limit-edition or buy it from the online market, so be careful of what you keep in inventory. But despite that, it’s all good fun. I was so depressed when I finally had to return this game. This is one of the few tittles that I am planning to buy.
Tales of Vesperia is a fun game if you don’t mind the anime style character graphics. It a nice Rpg with a interesting story. The character interaction and private moments are pretty nice, it gives depth into to characters. Sadly I don’t think there that many copies of this game anymore.
Bayonetta is a game that looks promising and is probability something you should keep a eye on. Tried the demo for the PS3 and the fighting is crazier than that of Devil may cry. It also loaded with sex appeal up the wazzu, from the way the character dressed, the way she walks, and the way she becomes nude when you do her finishing special for big bad ass enemies. This game won't come out till January 5, 2010.
Dead space, from what I heard, is currently one of the most popular horrible games for the Xbox360. I not a real fan of horror and a game I haven’t played, but maybe it something you should check on.
I hope this has been helpful
Also, as a warning, I do not recommend assassin creed 2. After 5 hours into the game, I found myself terribly bored of it and regretting ever renting it. I never even played the first one, but after this game, I don't want to. That game is just a stereotypical plat former with some snazzy new look and a few gimmicks to make it more interesting. It painfully reminded of Infamous, of prototype, of Spider man, and a several other open world plat former games I have ever played before.
Infamous was way over hiked, but that game was more fun when compared to this one.
I wouldn't recommend getting The Orange Box on 360 for TF2 alone. It gets at least 382% more love on the PC, and there's quite a fun community going for that version here. Also, it will probably be ridiculously cheap at some point over the next two weeks if you catch the free weekend starting tomorrow and the Christmas sales on Steam. I'm not even joking, I bought three copies for $2.50 each on Halloween just to give to friends. But NO ANTITHESIS 360 THREAD.
I'd also recommend Resident Evil 5 for coop fun. Keep in mind getting the splitscreen to start isn't at all intuitive and it splits the screen in a very strange manner on HDTVs.
Same with Left4Dead2. I love the 360, I just got one myself, but I would not play valve games on the 360. They control better and have a much better community on the PC. Not to mention the fact that TF2, as antithesis said above, gets much more attention from the developer on the PC.
I really disliked Far Cry 2, it took forever to get anywhere, and the enemy checkpoints all have respawning enemies, so when you want to go back somewhere you have to fight the same guys every time. It was nothing like the first.
Halo ODST was fun enough, it has the multiplayer from Halo3 with all of the maps.
Modern Warfare 2 has a retarded storyline but it is fun enough, and the multiplayer is great.
Also GTA IV and the liberty city stories pack are great as well.
Then, of course, Call of Duty 4. I will forever maintain its superiority over MW2. You won't miss much by skipping over CoD3, and unless you find yourself aching to play Nazi Zombies, you can just as easily avoid CoD World at War.
I'm not much of a proprietor of "the current big thing", which I suppose could be why I find myself unaffected by Modern Warfare 2's weighty pull. I focus more on the gaming experiences that I'll remember for life; maybe the campaign had an unexpectedly well-told story or characters that were better developed than one might expect from an FPS. Or maybe the multiplayer was *actually* fun and provided hours of entertainment for myself and my friends...(I still prefer split-screen.) Lots of factors contribute to my recommendation of a game, none of which being "itz da hot ish, yo". Basically what I mean to say is that you will not regret a second of your time spent playing CoD2 or 4. Very memorable, very well-done, and that's something MW2 just didn't give me. Give them a shot.
As I said, the storyline is drop-dead retarded, but the multiplayer is about the same as 4, just with more complex maps.
edit: and more knives
IOS Game Center ID: Isotope-X
This game is so good it made me wanna pee with the title intro.
On anything less than a 3GHz dual-core processor on the pc, it's not worth playing a slideshow of a game like that.
Nothing's forgotten, nothing is ever forgotten
Let me tell you a little story about my god damn fucking desktop. This last weekend, before we got the 360, I wanted to play a free MMORPG (I can't remember the name of it, Regum or something). I haul my comp downstairs from the attic from storage. Mind you this is a pretty good comp, up to date as of 2007/08 with a linux OS and the ability to play Bioshock and WoW and newer Sims games, but I haven't been interested in those in a while and have just been sticking with my netbooks. We get down to installing the game. By the end of the afternoon (11 am-4 pm ish) we realized that the computer was totally fucking dead and needed to go in the trash. The fucking Linux OS wouldn't update, the video card was half fried, nothing worked and that's when I said "I need games that work plz" and he went to gamestop and came back with the 360. I'm serious, I am so completely finished with PC gaming it's not even funny.
Sorry for the /rant. I'm not mad at anybody, I'm pissed that I poured money into a good computer and now it's a fucking paperweight. I won't get TF2 if it's shitty on the console though. I have a lot more games to play thanks to you guys!
Anything could have happened to your machine in storage. Dust, humidity, hot/cold temperatures, whatever. Try putting the 360 into storage for the same amount of time and see how well it fares. Though if you had a good pc rotting away in storage and all you wanted to do was play games, maybe you should have bought a console well before now.
Just sayin'.
Nothing's forgotten, nothing is ever forgotten
Also as far as that GTA IV PC comment. Even that processor won't get it running too well for you. The game was optimized incredibly poorly for the PC port. Just... bad.
Nothing's forgotten, nothing is ever forgotten
I hate how they say "make sure your computer can run this before you open it"... well.. my computer should have been able to. (another one, not this one)
I just ended up getting it for the PS3.
Although I was playing the lost and the damned on my 360 and it was looking kind of crappy. Not sure what was up with that.
You sound a little butthurt. It's kind of ridiculous that you're assuming (seemingly so) that I was accusing *you* of only liking it because it's the hot thing right now. The fact of the matter is there *are* a lot of people who only like it for just that reason. I see it all day, every day at work (GameStop). But that's really got nothing to do with recommending good Xbox 360 games for the OP, does it?
Assassin's Creed 2 isn't getting as much love as it should. Even if you play the first one and don't like it, the second one improved upon it in everyway imaginable.
Oh god yes. Despite the fact that it's *still* a really repetitive game by nature, it's a lot better than the first one, which was great in its own right.
