Using a database for my book collection

ButterflyButterfly Registered User new member
In the past i used to catalog my book in a simple table. But i found this to be clumsy as a book can have multiple authors and editors, can contain multiple stories and belong to different categories and genres. So i decided to use a database. Designing the database is relatively simple, the problem is designing a convenient input mechanism. I tried using access, but i only succeeded in making very sipmle forms, nothing that could handle all the many-to-many realtionships.

I'm certain other people have had this same problem. Any advice?

You could try using an already existing solution. I don't have quite so many books as to need a database to keep track of them, so I haven't tried these.

I'm sure there are others. These may not fulfill your purposes, but they're at least start.

Maybe www.LibraryThing.com does something you'd want.

Is there a similar piece of software but for films?

So, I tried this. It has the advantage that you can share your library records online. But it's also annoying to add non-english books.
