Can you guys reccomend some good blues and ragtime

I need to expand my library. My favorite artist is Leon Redbone, but I also love RL Burnside, Junior Kimbraugh, King Ernest, and Asie Peyton.

Most of that is blues; can you guys reccomend me more in that genre, and some ragtime? I'm fairly fond of stuff from the southern early 20th century.

[edit] I also love Johnny Cash, so good western-style music for me to enjoy and use in my Darwin's World game would be nice too.

[edit] Double edit. I guess this is a tribute to my eclectecism, but I've been listening to a lot of industrial since a bunch of my friends frequent this grindcore industrial club in town and it goes well with my bad mood / fallen earth. So if anyone knows some good, hard, industrial, that would rock.

also, thanks cheerfulbear

I gotta plug my dad's band here and mention the Blue Dice (out of CA, not FL)

B.B. King, Buddy Guy, Albert King, Muddy Waters!

I also dig Burnside a lot, he's usually my #1 recommendation (so it's cool you started with him!).

No Joplin? Pineapple and Maple Leaf Rag are two of my faves. The man invented Ragtime. He can't not be mentioned!

I'll recommend the same thing I do in pretty much all similar situations: utilize Pandora.

In fact, you're in the US, you could just listen to my Pandora station "On the Rag(time)".

The seeds are songs by Miguel Pineda-Van Gelder, Butch Thompson, Eteri Andjaparidze, Sue Keller, and Claude Bolling, but listening to it for a while will no doubt introduce you to more artists, contemporary and otherwise.

(NOTE: I've also got a banjo music station, and one devoted to Django Reinhardt. You might want to check those out as well.)

Listen to Stevie Ray Vaughan, and then listen to the guys who inspired him (Albert King, Buddy Guy, Freddie King etc.) He honestly single-handedly brought blues back from the dead in the 80's, and is arguably the best guitarist ever.

Also The Black Keys are possibly the best contemporary blues-inspired band.

They did a cover of Junior Kimbraugh's "Do the Rump"
Just to give you a taste.

Son House is amazing. This is my favorite song at the moment, and basically his signature song. He lived long enough for there to be actual nice quality video too which is cool.

Also worth mention is the White Stripes cover of Death Letter. Really amazing take on it I think.

And although Robert Johnson's been mentioned, here's more:

    And Leadbelly is great.

    P.S. I love Django Reinhardt.
