He pretty much just becomes shiny and prophet-like, doesn't he? I mean, the prophets don't actually do much in all honesty.

    You know what I'd like?

In the first few seasons of DS9, they keep mentioning ground wars on "The Cardassian Front"

Perhaps some sort of MACO or Elite Force-style Star Trek groundpounding?

    NGE

    What does "NGE" mean?
    Neon Genesis Evangelion

I dislike Evangelion quite a lot.

This puts me at odds with my anime nerd friends.

FLCL is better anyways. Less angsty, too.

Since this is the closest thing to a Star Trek thread, I thought I'd post this new bit of news on the upcoming movie here.

    "What is it Spock?"

"Admiral, it appears to be Galactus, he is pursuing the ship at warp 7."

    "Open a channel. Main screen."

DS9 vs B5 was a holy war on Nintendo vs SEGA levels for me back in the day. Except I now understand Nintendo rocks, where DS9 still sucks balls.

For Enterprise I watched the first episode and when it didn't have a teaser at the start with whatshisface (Sam) suddenly being put in control of the ship and all shit going on around him and then him going "oh boy" and then the credits starting I basically kicked the fucking TV in and never watched it again.

If you can't make an obvious, awesome, joke implying that Sam Backett is the new captain, whats the fucking point.

Star Gate at least made McGyver jokes didn;t it?

The main screen flicked to life, but the image framed against the backdrop of stars wasn't Galactus. Kirk stared at the familiar face on the screen, unable to believe what he was looking at. "Bones, what have you done?"

"Nothing you wouldn't have done in my situation Jim. I am the herald of Galactus now. You can return to the earth with me, or I can take you back."

    "Mr. Sulu, raise the shields."

Seriously if they had hinted one teeny tiny bit that it was sam beckett pretending to be captain, I would have watched every fucking one.

Y'know how people are always saying that DS9 ripped off B5? I was kinda curious about that and it seems that B5 started a year after DS9.

EDIT: Hmm, never mind, another source shows that DS9 only started a month before.

EDIT2: Ah, further clarification, DS9 started in Jan of 93 and B5 had the pilot episode first air in Feb of 93, but the series didn't actually start showing until Jan of 94.

All I remember about that arguement was that they were both shows about political intrigue on a space-station. And that JMS pitched the idea to paramount years before.

Well, that, and when one show suddenly got this super awesome starship, the other show got a super awesome starship a few months later.

The rumour is that Straczyinski, dropped the B5 Bible outlining the plot to B5 (which at the time was, space station around planet, build up to a big war, and it has a shape shifter as a cast member) to Paramount, or whoever the fuck makes startrek.

Their like "fuck you Strawwuashsxki - not interested." And proceed to make DS9 about a spacestation around a planet, a big war and a shapeshifter.

JMS, makes it anyway but changes the shapshifter to a drunk man named after a bisquit.

The CGI from most of the run looked like itwas stolen from a Beast Wars episode.

But it was used pretty damned well.

Whenever someone brings up DS9 v B5 I just think, " Who is responsible for Battlestar Galactica and who is responsible for Gwen Stacy having Norman Osborns goblin babies?"

    It's pretty easy from there.

I never caught B5 when it was on because it was in syndication and they changed the airtime like every damn week.

It's on my netflix list and I'm sure I'll enjoy it.

I also didn't get into DS9 at first, either. The first couple seasons were a bit weak. But it got really badass really quickly.
