I'm Running a Baby Marathon (Things You've done for the Opposite Sex)
So I decided to run a marathon (only an 8K) because my girlfriend really wanted me to do it. Unfortunately, I have no idea how to prepare for a 5mile run so any tips will be helpful. The run is on March 21st so I have about 2 months to prepare. Any tips from the SE Runners?

If your in decent shape already I would recommend couch to 5k (3.1 miles) to start out it. It will ramp you up correctly so you can run without burning yourself out and or injuring yourself. I think its only a month program, or maybe two. Either way once your able to run going those extra 3k won't be too hard.
Obviously I know to run some today, then run more tomorrow. But I don't know how to increase my stamina, what kinds of training I should do, etc.
I don't want to make an ass out of myself in front of a ton of runners in Chicago. I'm not a runner at all (I'm a 5'8'', 120lb Golfer goddammit) and I'm relatively winded after .75miles.
Run as often as possible, if you've not ran in ages then alternate between running and then walking when your lungs feel like they're about to explode, and then running once the feeling has gone. Don't stop at any point or you'll find it really hard to start running again. And vary your scenery, the same area will get boring.
Make sure you take the training seriously so you don't hurt yourself. 5 miles isn't that far, but if you aren't accustomed to running, you need to properly prepare.

Feign an injury a week before the marathon and do nothing. Unless you get actual sex before the marathon. Then feign the injury a day or two before as to not ruin any potential sex.
the only way to increase your running stamina is to run until your run out of stamina, then [strike]get more XP to spend it on stamina[/strike] next time run some more.
It's a long ass process, but for me the progress was most noticeable at the beginning, it's somewhat logarithmic: you will get much better the first times, then much less better after a certain point
also, never simply stop running, but go slower gradually, and make sure you don't catch a cold
though I would have probably been laid off by now so it's not really the end of the world

I got a leg cramp one time during sex and my wife thought it was a passionate cry. After I got up and frantically tried to straighten out my leg while screaming in pain, she realized it was a typical leg cramp I get from working in the heat and not drinking enough at work.

Yeah I know but for some reason The Shamrock Shuffle is nicknamed the 'March Marathon' by some people so I just put it out of habit.
It sounds better than saying "I'm running less than 5 miles for a girl"
