For US versus Japan or however you wanted to frame a comparison, the genres didn't really match up. I like the more whimsical and colorful Japanese box art for Shiren, but a lot of these are just ... weird, or self-explanatory. The ones that caught my attention most were End of Eternity (also because of the name) and Coropata. That little girl is just like, "Come on!" and I just can't say no!
Also I can't stop laughing at the art for Queen's Blade. It's like "Big Breasts Adventure: The Journey for Bigger Breasts".
What's worse is it's made by Banpresto, and it's basically another SRT OG Saga game. Except it consists of the most pandering garbage you can imagine.
And that PAL Heavy Rain art is classy, into the OP it goes.

I think Japan can imagine more pandering garbage than I'm capable of. They're masters of the craft. Just look at Ar Tonelico.
Ar Tonelico is tame by their standards. The third one is rated all ages! I think.
Queen's Blade is seriously sick stuff. Just stomach churning. Don't google it.
Also, man, I'm not usually one to -care- about Box Art, but why couldn't we have the PAL Box Art for Heavy Rain? Throwing on the characters is unnecessary.

I don't have a good reason for why, but I have a feeling that the chances of that being used outside of Japan is low.
I saw a comparison of the PAL and US covers for Heavy Rain earlier. I don't understand whoever decides that there must be a bunch of characters on the US cover.
The US version is unreasonably suggestive. I mean, you're reading the title of Heavy Rain and your eyes get stuck on the V part because there's a big stack of boobs there. Not to mention the part below her left arm-pit looks way out of whack.
That Split Second box art looks fantastic though... So much so I'm actually going to look into it now
Are all Japanese DS game cases that thin? The ones we have here in Europe are thicker and transparent. I did see an American DS case at some point and it looked much like the one in the picture, so I guess Europe that have different cases.

It's carry-over from movie posters where they just use floating heads. The only difference is that on game boxes you usually get the body.
I'm not a Halo fan, but that Reach boxart looks pretty classy if that's what they actually go with.
Halo: Reach, End of Eternity, and Dragon Age: Awakening in that order.
The Dragon Age box art would look a lot better if it wasn't covered in logos.

Heavy Rain looks terribad based on the cover alone.

Both are nice, but I think the new one is better.
But, damn, I wish we would have got those.
I wish we got that cover. I like Noel but eh, that cover doesn't really do it for me.
What's with the square-enix published pony game on the DS?
I swear I won't ever be able to play this game because the logo just makes me completely angry, especially since I'm a graphic designer. It's just such a bad idea on so many levels....
And yeah Heavy Rain's US cover isn't bad, but it is kind of forgettable. I'd never give it a second glance if I didn't already know what it was. The UK one, however, I'd probably immediately grab and look at it to see what was up. It's unique and stylish. I love that cover. Good thing that they'll be offering a PDF of that one to print out for anyone that wants it.
Outside of Japan the game has a completely different title and it looks like they fixed the stupid "of".

Wasn't that the one where you create your own character and it follows the trend of playing completely differently from the last BD game? Also holy shit, could they have chosen a worse design for the created character on the front? He looks exactly like Shu, and that isn't even a jab at Toriyama's art. He's the same character!
