My TV just died...

I have a 57" Mitsubishi DLP WD-57831 and the lap just copped out on me. This will be the second replacement of the lamp in 3 1/2 years so I'm not that bothered about it. What I am concerned about is finding a good deal on what I need.

So far I have come up with this as being the best deal: http://electrified.com/Catalog/Items/?CampaignID=Pricegrabber&ItemID=36409

Does this look like a legit/good site from which to order? The official Mitsubishi site has the lamp listed at $250.

Also just found this page: http://www.advancedlamps.com/Genuine-AL-915P049020-Lamp-Housing-for-Mitsubishi-Televisions?m1track=googlebase&utm_source=googlebase&utm_medium=cse&utm_campaign=export_feed

$250 sounds like a really good deal actually.

It is not surprising to me that the official site lists the part for way more. You ever had to replace something on your car? Ever compared what the dealer quoted to what you could find on a 3rd-party site for the car? Same rules apply here. As long as that's the same part (and it looks like it is) I would buy without fear.

Cool, $108 vs. $250 for the same part that essentially gives me a new tv really makes a difference.

Looks like most places are selling it for around $110-$125. If you don't trust the vendor, check them out on ripoffreport.com or see if there are complaints lodged against them with the BBB. Looks like you're in the clear, though.

I used to work for a company that sold nothing but lamps for projectors and TVs and $250 is pretty outrageous unless it's for a movie theater sized projector or is a discontinued part that was once extremely common. Finding a vendor with rare lamps in stock was like striking oil for us.

One local business I called quoted me $387 for the lamp and housing. D:

The lowest locally has been $199.

I think I'm probably going with this route:

    http://www.discount-merchant.com/Mitsubishi-915P049020-915P049A20-Lamp-Replacem-p/mitsubishi-915p049020-lamp.htm

and install it myself for ~$130 including shipping.

The version with the housing is out of stock, sadly.

A friend of mine told me that some places will sell refurbed lamps as new. I don't know anything about this, but if that's true, I'd be careful of that.

$199 local? You'd save $70 online, but you're risking getting a dud that will conk out in a few months. What's the warranty on those bulbs? 30 days?

New, 1 year warranty, made by Phillips or Osram (Mitsubishi parts supplier). Either are excellent.
