A Question for Stephen King's "The Shining" fans

In Chapter 17, after Wendy and Jack take Danny to the doctor for the wasp stings, the doctor is talking to them about their son and his invisible friend. In my Signet paperback version it's page 147, 3rd paragraph down. The doctor mentions his own invisible friend, Chug-Chug then says "And of course you two must understand why Danny's invisible friend is named Tony instead of Mike or Hal or Dutch." He goes back and forth for a few more sentences with Jack and Wendy about this, but never explains why Danny's invisible friend is named Tony. As far as I can tell, no one ever explains it.

Can anyone fill me in? Why is Tony is named Tony? I have read this book several times and every time I run across this I'm left scratching my head.

According to Wikipedia, Danny's middle name is Anthony, hence Tony (part of himself, blah blah).
