so you have probably heard that the republican party now holds a 41-seat majority in the senate. which means that it's time to get fired up and fight for reform and other things, right?

In current practice, Senate Rule 22 permits filibusters in which actual continuous floor speeches are not required.

I think, at most, they would be preaching to the choir.
There are a number of people already upset that nothing is getting done.
i'm pretty sure this is at the choice of the majority leader though
so yeah democrats could force them to chill on the floor for a while
but then the onus would really be on them since they'd have to retain a majority of senators on the floor at all times to keep the bill from being killed outright.
However, the ring will never leave your finger, and you will be unable to ever describe to another living person what you see.
