The good ending to the first Bioshock made me extremely happy. I've can't recall any other game that had such a sweet ending.

I thought the ending to Bioshock was pretty poor overall

The 'would you kindly' portion was amazing though

I liked the good ending, I wouldn't like it as much if it was changed.

You can really tell where things got stupid, though.

A lot of people say that everything after the twist was bad, but the apartment place and especially Atlas' base in that area were some of the most interesting parts for me. (And actually, as a quite important part of the civil war subplot, Atlas's base was really poorly placed, they put it behind the exit to the level. That there is pure silly goosery.)

Really it's after that that everything falls apart.

Stupid bloody Point Prometheus. One of the very few audio logs in that place tells you where to get the boots for god's sake. My theory is that they were either rushed, or their climax guy got hit by a car.

The finale was pretty poor, but the ending cinematic filled my heart with sunshine.

Of course, since they had to rip that suit off of you at the end, you're probably unable to speak. But you still get all the promotions, what with you being able to attack people with bees.

Also I don't think the player character was assigned a Little Sister because he sounds like the prototype that was shelved without actually being deployed

do you not know the basic plot of the game

I haven't read any of the recent material so I suppose my understanding of the situation is incomplete, yes

But I'm glad you decided to make this constructive and helpful response to me, Kusu

I know the OP was the first I had heard of most everything story-wise beyond the ten year gap, you are the first Big Daddy, being hunted by the Big Sister.

Even the title of the old video is Hunting the Big Sister. Not a big thing, but a thing.

The big reveal was the climax of the game.

It all went downhill from there.

Go back and play Apollo Square and Olympus Heights and then stop playing before going to Point Prometheus. Some of the most interesting parts of the game for me. Especially the (as I said) terribly placed Fontaine's Home for the Poor, which has some really good stuff, but is so easy to miss.

    You'll change your mind.

The finale segment had its strengths but by and large it felt like the game had lost its way

This is the worst argument, and the only one that defenders can come up with.

    He made one cool segment

Somehow that means that he and his team are capable of filling an entire game with worthy content

The first level of the original Bioshock was honestly the highlight of the game for me. I still remember hesitantly gearing up to take down my first Big Daddy, and how intense the ensuing fight was. After you beef up enough to the point where you can easily oneshot a Big Daddy, the game lost a lot of it's charm for me.

Fort Frolic was fun because it was a change of pace.

If the whole game were like Fort Frolic, it would be an absolute mess.

Also I've seen too many terrible sequels come out when they've changed creative hands, even if the people behind it were involved with the original and "understood the spirit" of the game or whatever.

The fact that they're even making a sequel shows that they don't understand the spirit of the game.

yeah pretty much once you get the grande launcher and/or crossbow everything is way less lethal

the first few big daddy fights are spectacular because you're literally throwing everything you have at them (kitchen sinks included)
