BTW, VC is 20 bucks at Gamestop. New, if you don't want to give them the used game satisfaction. I only played the demo but I can see it getting super hard and annoying, like Advance Wars or FFTA.
Will a Harmony remote work instead of a Blu-Ray remote?
I ask because I've got like 4 remotes already, adding one that automatically turns my PS3 on whenever the kids get hold of it is a frightening prospect

Well, since it's so highly recommended (in giant red bold font, no less) and so cheap I should maybe pick up a used copy with a 30-day guarantee or something?
All I say is you should try the demo. It's not for everyone, but some folks absolutely love it.
I was looking forward to BioShock's PS3 port for like, a year - I read ancient, obscenely dense novels because I heard it would add to my appreciation of the game - and the demo for Valkyria Chronicles turned BioShock into a Next-year-probably purchase.
You may not love it, but you have to try it.
Edit: and if you end up loving it? Good luck finding it :^:

Yes. With an adapter. That costs as much as a Harmony One.
My problem with GoW is that once you are done with the spectacle of it (which maybe you never quite get tired of), don't all games control the same way? Played one, played them all.

The same could be said of every FPS since Quake (since was the first to have mouselook). A new gimmick here and there, but they all play the same.
What's everyone's opinion on LBP? I played the demo and it seemed too simple, but I'm okay with simple as long as it's ridiculously fun.

Seriously josh VC needs to be your like first purchase because 1) it's the highest rated JRPG this gen (well, until FFXIII drops at least), 2) it's 20 bucks new. Anyways here's the VC thread if you wanna know more about it, skip to the second post for actual info

It depends if your PS3 is hooked with the online and you play with friends. If both are true it's totally worth it (although the single player games are fun the best part is exploring online levels with your friends)

It's a side-scrolling platformer. Nothing more. You run sideways jumping over or grabbing obstacles and jumping on top of exceedingly rare enemies on your way to the end of the game. The paint gun in the MGS pack adds a bit more, but it's still just a side-scrolling platformer. That doesn't stop it being absolutely charming, and an utter blast with a few like minded people around.

Haha UV and I gave the same info but came to exact opposite conclusions
Anyways what UV said is correct, but it's much like hating Youtube because most of it is shit AMVs of popular songs- that doesn't make Youtube suck, but certain people suck

I'll probably pick it up, you can't really go wrong for $20, and I can always regift it to my brother if I end up hating the fuck out of it

You won't hate it. I don't like SRPG's, and I love the shit out of it. I need to go finish it some day... Stupid super tank.
The Ratchet and Clank games are fantastic and in my opinion are the best PS3 exclusives at this point as they have a style of their own and the gameplay is a lot of fun. Also, the game to look forward to (but lacks a release date ) is The Last Guardian which is by team ICO.

LBP (This is probably more for josh as he mentioned kids, but I don't know ages) is absolutely great for younger kids. My three-year old nephew, whenever he's over, the first thing he always says to me is that he wants to watch me play LittleBigPlanet. And his younger brother has started watching too. They're just absolutely captivated with it. I don't mind it so much since it's still fun for me somehow.
But yes, it has charm oozing from it, and there really are a lot more gems of levels than you might think, but it is a bit difficult to find them all, and a little annoying digging through all the crap. I never really thought it was 'subpar' for a platformer, but eh.
If you haven't done it already, look around for the Uncharted: Drake's Fortune/Dual Shock 3 combo.
It nets you a great game and an extra controller for 5$ more than the price of a controller alone. Which will help for the aforementioned LBP same-screen, or any other co-op games you buy.
littlebigplanet is wonderful. even if the creation and online stuff doesn't strike your fancy, the story mode is amazingly fun and a blast in local multiplayer. i'd pay another $70 just for another set of levels in a heartbeat
Also, it's probably a very good idea to grab a PSN card or two if you think you're going to have a little spare scratch. PSN has been pretty good lately on having sales so a lot of the time, a "Hrm, that game looks pretty neat" thing becomes an impulse buy. Like Critter Crunch (that I mentioned already) for $3.49. I bought four or so games when they were on a sale because it's just really hard not to. And like a 360, it's just a better idea to use the cards instead of giving it your credit card.

Which one? There are SO many of them. :-P There's "Tanks on a Rail" and "Two Tanks, One Chassis" and "Too Many Radiators Tank" and... well, yeah. Even the second to last chapter has yet another "mother of all super tanks". For a nation that has failed to crush Gallia with superior weapons, you'd think they'd focus less on super tanks and more on... well, intelligent troop deployment.
If you have the disc versions, you don't really need to buy the PS1 Classics

Oh, i was just this person two weeks ago. Now i have a PS3, Demons Souls, Uncharted 2, Planet Earth BR, Ghost In the Shell BR, Ratatouille BR, PS3 Netflix. Im gonna get Metal Gear solid 4 soon but i wanna actually beat a game i own first. But i dont really see any need for The PS3 dvd controller.
I am surprised at the greatness of the PS3 store, i already have Burnout Paradise and its great.. ive been playing it more than any other game, but are the expansions worth it? The DLC for that game confuses me, can i unlock most of that stuff, or am i stuck with shit until i buy those cars?
The Pixeljunk games, those are awesome too. What is sad though is how broken Marvel V Capcom is, or how much i suck at it.

Just wanted to add extra info about LBP. I played it with my gf and it was a blast. The two player puzzles were the highlight of the whole game, stuff where you have to cooperate to finish it. We never managed to find someone to do the 3 and four player puzzles so I can't comment.
She was the one who wanted it really badly and she mentioned to me that she probably wouldn't have kept playing it if it wasn't coop since doing that added so much to it.
I guess it helped that I used to dress and clown around with my character to make her laugh as much as possible. Game has a lot of charm as people have said, but if you are just playing by yourself it wouldn't be as good I think.

The cars that are in the DLC are specifically that.
But the cars in-game are not shit, once you start unlocking better stuff.
Add me on PSN, UnbreakableVow. I fucking love me some Burnout Paradise.

Sure thing, now what about the new island dlc, is that worth it?
Unco-ordinated, that is a hell of a list you made up there
Good job
No problem. The PS3's pretty handy in that you really don't need many accessories. You can also buy a SATA 2.5" HDD and replace the one in your PS3 if you want, it's incredibly easy (my PS3 HDD has 320GB's).
If you're not sure about any of the games listed, there're quite a few demos online though some of them aren't representative of how good the final game is (like the inFamous and Uncahrted 1 demoes).
If you have the disc versions, you don't really need to buy the PS1 Classics
If you've got a PSP you should just get the PSP version anyway. Sure there's some slowdown but the re-translation and new cutscenes more than make up for it.
Barcardi: The only Burnout Paradise DLC I'd really recommend is Big Surf Island. It's amazing and even has some new cars that you can unlock in it, including toy versions of the super car pack (which you can then use to get some of the Toy Car trophies without actually buying the Toy Car pack).

2 of the car packs are worth it for novelty reasons. The Legends pack for the Back to the Future car and the pack with the car that can change boost types at will. Replaying the game was so much more fun with those 2 cars.

And it's a fun island to explore, more billboards, lots of crazy ramps and stuff
