My monitor decided as of three a.m. this morning it no longer wants to display in color. My computer automatically updates at three a.m. and turned on to update with full color for a few seconds before reverting to b&w. Restarting now has the same effect. Sometimes color lasts throught the login screen, sometimes not. My drivers are updates as of today.
My monitor is an Acer x223w. Graphics card is Nvidia Geforce 9800gtx+. Running them with 32bit Vista. Everything is updated and otherwise working perfectly. Halp!

You haven't like... set the colors in properties to grayscale or anything right? go check what your colors are set to.

and I wonder about my neighbors even though I don't have them
but they're listening to every word I say
I am having the same exactly the same problem. Are you running Windows Vista 64 bit? I have tryied to upgrade the nvidia drivers and it worked for a second then went back to b and w.
Ok, in the Nvidia control panel, adjusting digital vibrance and hue is bringing the color back, but it doesn't quite look normal. What is the normal settings for those? Hue was set down to 0 degrees and vibrance to 2% before I changed them. Why would vibrance have (nearly) been turned off?

If that doesn't work, check the pins on the vga cable (the one that attaches the monitor to the CPU), see if any are bent or look loose.
