Exponential popularity - Solved!

I'm looking for the phrase to describe the phenomena where the popularity of something affects the things ability to become popular, and so it mimics an exponential increase. What I mean is when a product's popularity causes it to become used by more, and those more add to the products popularity, making it even more popular.

I thought it was called the 'power effect' but google and wikipedia don't seem to agree.

Thanks

Not quite what I was looking for, but the article on that led me to 'positive feedback' and this is certainly a positive feedback loop applied to poularity. I guess this is solved unless there's better terminology.

The term would be either network effect or network externality.

Woo, that would be a better terminology than what I had found. Plenty of thanks!
