Another one about "What's the movie or book"
A man (who kind of reminds me of Ben Linus on LOST) is accused of killing a woman. He has no alibi for the time of the murder, the police have a lot of evidence but nothing solid enough to hold him. This man is head of or a star of a symphony and the woman might have been a player in the symphony. But the story is not about the music, i.e. it's not like August Rush or a musical. There might be a pair of unsavory characters that we are led to believe are the real killers.
The man and the victim's pre-teen daughter meet accidentally and become friends without knowing their connection. (he bumps into her at an ATM or something and buys here ice cream maybe?) The woman taking care of the daughter is suspicious because she knows about the investigation. It comes out later the man knew this was the victim's daughter and wanted to try and mentor her... then it comes out that the daughter knew this was the accused killer and wanted to know more about him (and prove his innocence?)
Man, I don't even know actors or time frame or anything.
