Heh, yeah, they really made Black-Bolt into a silent space-pimp there. Not bad for someone presumed dead. Interesting race choices for the alien Inhumans too. At least there's a good idea now how the feud between the Four Elements will kick off.

And it will end with Medusa ripping arms off of everyone.

Fantastic Four has been pretty fantastic since Hickman took over (and his Dark Reign Fantastic Fourbook was great, too and set up his run proper).

Reed quit the group when he found out that all of them pretty much gave up their families to spend time fixing stuff in their own and each other's realities.

Oh, my LCS got these tokidoki Marvel t-shirts in, that was cool to look at, because there was a Thor one like so:

    TOKIDOKI-MARVEL-THOR.gif

If it wasn't in black I might have bought it (why are so many comic t-shirts black? Have a little bit of color). But it is $28.00. And they have a neat Iron Man one as well. And some nice girl ones for the missus, like Thor and a Unicorn.

Here's the full line of shirts

That page with Arthur and Mera was definitely my favorite scene from BN8. I don't know why, but all of the Aquaman and Mera stuff has really struck a chord with me in this event.

It's probably my favorite page too, and I don't really care for either Arthur or Mera. I think it's because instead of a big old blalalala making out with tongues (like the Hawks do), it's an intimate hug where they're just happy to be together again.

Well its funny, because I know next to nothing about Aquaman and his supporting cast. In fact, I have been known to mock Aquaman on a number of occasions. But the various scenes throughout Blackest Night involving he and Mera have probably been my favorite scenes overall. I loved the early fight scene in issue 1 or 2. I also really liked the stuff between Mera and Wonder Woman, and of course the reunion page in BN8.

This is a pretty good example of a moment that was kind of spoiled by the dialogue.
If Nightcrawler had just said "Well, that is something that I can understand," or something along those lines, without just going "OH SEE WE ARE THE SAME YOU AND I WE ARE BOTH MEN OF FAITH ARE YOU GETTING THIS, READER???"

Sometimes you can say more about relationships without over explaining things.

edit: in fact, if Nightcrawler had just said nothing and accepted it, it would have been better. He didn't need to say anything.

I bet writers get daily reminders that NEW READERS are priorty #1-1000. Do whatever as long as you make it obvious whats going on to a young reader/new reader. I wonder how many lazy/horrible story ideas have been lubed with the promise of attracting more readers($$$).

Oh God I feel old. I was so in love with her when that movie came out.

I didn't get to the store, and probably won't until tomorrow. Any suggestions, because frankly I'm looking at what I planned to get and I'm pretty indifferent to them all.

Jack of Fables is still good Crimson, get that. The one that came out Wendesday has a nice twist to it.

But yeah, since Blackest Night ended and I'm hella sad with the Superman titles right now, I need to do a relaunch of my pull list.

And Zeromus, you don't get it. Bagley is drawing a happy Jewish teenage mutant, and you just have to be a comic critic Ahmadinejad.

Eh... It's almost a caricature, though.

This isn't entirely the place, but since I do think these motw threads serve in part to pimp your favorite new releases I wanted to link to this review of Dark Horse's Noir anthology. I don't recall a lot of people mentioning it (I don't remember mentioning it myself) when it was first released, but if you find it and you like noir comics, then get it. I love the Dean Motter story the most (It's like the PA Automata strips) and I've been meaning to pick up his Electropolis trade but it's pretty far down on my to-do list.

I just realized I didn't read the last issue of Detective. I haven't even gotten to that Dr. Strange one-shot that I was excited to read or a bunch of other books.

Technically not a comics-related MotW but when I was buying the second season of Avatar: The Last Airbender on Amazon I noticed it cost $25 less than what it originally was priced at. Seems I got one of those $25 gift cards when I ordered two omnibuses during the infamous Amazon glitch but I canceled my order a few days after and they still sent me the card anyway.

Your Marvel choices are all good books. This week was pretty... weak.
    • If you're into X-Men at all, Second Coming was a decent read.
    • Detective Comics was good as always.
    • If you've ever read Unknown Soldier, it had a fantastic issue this week, but it wouldn't be a good jumping on point.
    • Gotham City Sirens was good, if you like those characters.
    • And if you don't mind Star Wars comics, Legacy is a really good book about the future of the Jedi, and it really delivered this week.
    • Oh, and Amazing Spider-Man started a new arc this week with a good Juggernaut story, at least by ASM standards.
