["IF YOU SMELL-LLLLL" ON] WWF NO MERCY (N64)

FINALLY! The Rock HAS COME BACK to Penny Arcade!

Let me ask you somethin', jabroni. What do you think you and your friends would be playing if you didn't have any that "Smash Brothers" crap?

[spoiler:2b6d3fca19]IT DOESN'T MATTER WHAT YOU THINK![/spoiler:2b6d3fca19]

Damn straight you'd be playing some WWF No Mercy!

You think you can do this in Smash Brothers? Hell no!

Here in No Mercy, we taking whuppin' everybody's candy ass to a whole 'nother level! We introduced the ladder match, we let you be the special guest referee, and we'd beat you so bad in a First Blood match that we'd erase the game save memory.

And you can fight ANYWHERE! In the hallway.....
nomercythq05.jpg

.....in the bar room....
nomercythq06.jpg

.....and in the parking lot too!
nomercythq07.jpg

I mean just look how awesome this is!

Now know your role, shut your mouth, and go get three of your friends and smack the lips right off their faces!

And don't get into the mod community. That's like taking steroids, and taking steroids is wrong. Just look at what happened to these guys.

Now, if you'll excuse me, I've got some business I need to take care of.

mercyno41.jpg

So now that the OP part is over, I have a question. I got into this game WAY too late, but I'd still like to have a little compentecy in the game. In the move listed under "Standing -> Counter Attack -> Special Counter Kick", how the heck do you do this? I can never seem to figure it out. Same thing with getting Irish whipped to the ropes, I can't figure out how to bounce from the ropes and do a leaping attack or something. I always get hit by my opponent's attack. What gives?

    Best wrestling game ever made.

Oh god, I don't remember how to jump over people anymore... when you're running at them off of the ropes... I feel like you have to push R at the right time. I mean it depends, if they irish whipped you, you're kind of stuck in it unless you reverse it.

And for the special counter kick, I think that's if they attack you and you press R at the right time to block, you'll reverse it and do the kick.

    Lots of EDITS

I'll just second best wrestling game ever made statements. All of these THQ/AKI games were fantastic. Too much time lost to WCW/NWO revenge to count. :D

I got hit by the game save erase bug so many times too. But I had my characters saved on a memory card, so I could just copy them back over. Still had to build money back up and rebuy any moves if you made a new guy though.

Man, there was so much stuff you could do in No Mercy, like side stuff that kind of wasn't intended, but fun to think of. Like putting the metal stairs in a corner, whipping someone over to the turnbuckle, flipping them upside down so it looked like their head was on the stairs, and then run at them and do the sliding kick. Sure, it didn't actually register the head hitting the stairs, but my friends and I knew it was awesome anyway.

Oh man did I love this game. Though I am so pissed at to some events that took place with it do to my own stupidity.

OnceI played for almost the entire day, and I unlocked Cactus Jack (and you only had one chance to do it). Then I remember I was fighting Right To Censor, and for some unknown reason I shut the game off while it was loading. My save got messed up and registered I had passed the Cactus Jack part, but not that I unlocked him, so I was stuck with a missing Jack. I was so pissed.

Oh shit, and couldn't you do cage matches, and get on top of the cage, and slam your opponent through it?

There were cage matches, but there wasn't any top of the cage since you had to climb out of them to win a cage match.

although the cage was so so so high and you could - if climbing near them, pull or hit them off, and they fell a very long distance down, it was about 35-40 feet or so.

I got hit with the bug with a CPU vs. CPU match of Rob Van Dam vs. The Big Show. How the heck does that happen?

I've never even bothered with the story stuff since it's just inevitable to get it all lost, so I just keep it as a party game, or if I just want to do some random wrestling. I also have my guys saved to memory card, including Shawn Michaels since he's an unlockable.

    Holy cow, you aren't kidding!

A buddy of mine had this game (pretty much every N64 wrestling game) so I figured I'd have seen it before (and I know I have), but wow I totally forgot about it. I only remembered the truck and seeing the lightning and how it showed exactly where the lightning was until the truck passed over it on the screen. That was weird to see.

Go into the options and turn off the music. Slowdown goes away. I'm not sure why this is, but it is. Lack of music doesn't hurt it at all IMO.

The N64's main CPU handled music as well. So turning off music freed up it's processes for the main game, I would think.

Was this without the expansion pak or what? I'm confused because I just tried this in 4 player and 2 player, and the only speed increase that occurs is the obvious one (AKA 2 people only means a speedier game).

I don't think it should have anything to do with the expansion pack since the box doesn't show it takes any advantage of it. FWIW, my N64 does have the expansion pack.

Not to mention that the expansion pak just offers more RAM, so it really shouldn't affect anything.

But still, I'm confused why I'm not seeing a difference. Is it a minuscule difference or a huge help?

Well that's easy enough. Just pick "Survival" mode and send the bodies flying out of the ring. You'll get money to buy stuff in the Smackdown Mall. However, you'll get more money if make them submit, and even more money if you pin them.
