Past Lives
A Spectrum and
Burnage Production
'I have been Roland, Beowulf, Achilles, Gilgamesh. I have been called a hundred names and will be called a thousand more before the world goes dim and cold. I am hero.'
That's the tantalizing phrase Ouroboros advertised themselves with, the promise you could have been one of the world's greats in a past life. It's why you came to this facility, after all, to be part of the first ever public group to find out about their Past Lives.
This is a Phalla, the Penny Arcade version of the party game Mafia. This in particular is a Mini Phalla, which is smaller and shorter in duration than a Main Phalla. Confused? The
CF Phalla Signup List will probably prove informative.
The usual Phalla rules apply. No screen caps, no anonymous contact, no dead people talking to the living, no quoting/sharing of PMs from from the host, etc. Also, don't forget to PM me the URL of all proboards!
And for the love of fucking God, play to your win condition or I will break you in half.Vote close is at 11PM EST. Narration will follow as soon as possible and will be posted no later than 1AM EST. Hopefully.
This is an intermediate mechanics game.
Every day, you must vote for one person in
bold red to be eliminated from the game. Retractions are unnecessary unless you are specifically abstaining for the time being. Votes in posts that have been edited will not be counted.
Aside from the initial distribution of roles, the RNG will not be used at all in this game. Vote ties will be resolved by the death of the first person to reach the total.
Action Order:
Possible Actions > Vote > Various Actions > Kills
Inactivity:
Every player is required to make a minimum of 2 posts and 1 vote per day. This is your ONLY warning. Failure to meet activity requirements on any day will result in a reserve being activated. If no reserves are left, the offending player will be removed from the game. For the purposes of activity, all posts/votes made after vote close and before narration will be ignored.
Signups:
Sign up in
bold lime. After you sign up, you are required to PM the host your birth date. Your sign up will not be officially recorded until that happens. If, for privacy reasons, you do not wish your real birth date to be known, send in something similar.
Spectrum, how have you contrived to give the mafia a perfect victory this time?
I have a secret co-host, who will be announced in due time!
Villager PM:
You are...
...an investor in the Ouroboros company, a pioneer of research into past lives. The company came into being 3 years ago, after a landmark research paper was released proving that human beings reincarnated AND that it was possible to recover information about a given person's life. Their business model revolved around giving a customer a glimpse back into what life was like for their previous selves, along with the potential that someone could have been someone truly great. With a lure like that, they soon had customers lining up, with the wait list now 4 years long.
Now, after many years of hard work, they say they are prepared to open for business. As part of the announcement, they have invited you, one of the original investors, to a private session.
Abilities:
Democracy: You can voice your disapproval of another invitee in bold red in-thread. The one who the most people are speaking against will be ejected.
Win condition:
Ensure that nothing happens to damage your investment.
Updated Win Condition:
Win Condition:
Safeguard yourself by eliminating all those who would do unjust violence to the invited guests of the Ouroboros company.
Clarifications:
As typical, please ask all clarifications in
bold orange.
1) Any type of role can be present. Thralls, insane seers, vote immunity, conversions, you name it. As such, epic reveals may prove detrimental to your health. May.
2) All clarifications by the host are trustworthy.
3) If you had the good fortune to begin masoned with someone at the start of the game, you are guaranteed to share win conditions.
4)
If a person a and person b are tied for the vote and person a was the first person to reach that total, he dies. What if person b was given one more vote but then the vote was removed and person a and b were tied again. Would b then die to the vote instead of a?Correct. If you are the new vote leader by any means, in order to STOP being the vote leader, someone must pass you, either through them getting voted or you getting retracted even further.
5)
Are the male and female hosts in the narration players?Clarification denied.
6)
Are they the actual hosts, yourself and another person?Clarification denied.
7)
Is your mystery co-host on the player list?Clarification denied.
8)
Can we legitimately vote for you?Clarification denied.
9)
Are role PM's trustworthy?Win conditions are trustworthy. Masoning, as mentioned in #3, is trustworthy. Gender is trustworthy.
Anything else? Clarification denied.
For example, if there was an insane seer in the game, it would be fair to say that their ability description and their results each day were not entirely trustworthy.
If.
10)
Is the vigilante kill of the night missing from the narration, or was there no kill?I have been consistent with my depiction of which actions have been making it into the narration as main focus.
I have *also* taken great pains to fit small details into the narrations that are telling, agonizing over word choice to craft things just so.

The only way for the mafia to win is to direct all their day 1 kills on Infidel!
I can't not support a Spectrum Phalla
Despite the lamentable choice of avatar.

Be sure to read the OP carefully. It might just tell you why there are four slots left and how you might be sure you'll occupy one of the remaining ones.
