so I have the nurburgring GP track downloaded. I'm gonna practice before the race so I dont get killed

I remember this track coming up a while ago, but it was before I started racing Thursdays. I have a Nurburgring track, but I'm assuming the GP is a different one? I think it was some of the bonus content that came with the retail copy.

It's just that I thought I remembered Scatman racing with us in the Elan/muscle car race on Nurburgring that I have, but now he says he's gonna buy it.

Is there more than one track of that name??

Nurburgring is two tracks.. the mammoth 13 mile version that ships with the game, and a ~2 mile version that is DLC.

    Nurburgring:

    Nordschleife.jpg

    Nurburgring GP:

    Full.jpg

They show up as two entirely separate tracks in Forza.

That makes way more sense. I'll see what Ic an do to manage getting the DLC track, but since I'll be pressed to even make the 9:00 launch time I may just have to race what I can.

That is, if I haven't lit my F355 on fire after raging at it for the first group of races.

One of the major advantages I can see of using the F355 is that you'll be in the back, which is the safest spot in our races :D You'll probably avoid the turn-one blender, in any case.

    Still love the Diablo, ughhnnn.

Except I order the grid randomly, so you got no idea where you'll end up!

Though I keep meaning to sort it by reverse series points.. so the people with the fewest points get to start in the front.

I could also do it by reverse PI.. bring a A599 ride and suddenly you get the pole position every race. ;)

Oh god, I'll put some DUBS on it so that it adds 50 pounds.

I do actually prefer to start in the middle, but only because it's so intense there. It's awesome to get out of the pileup unharmed and in first after starting in fourth.

Even better to be in first at the end of the first lap after starting in last, since not all the pileups are on the first corner.

The best is being spun on the first corner and racing back to first by the end of the first lap

I think I was just as guilty, the Lamborghini Countach understeers like crazy, and even with putting in great breaks, it takes forever to stop. At least its 650 HP I crammed under the hood allowed me to hit 200 on the straight on the Ring.

I think I might do more races in the future where cars have to be in the same class as their stock class. It seemed to create a lot of really tight matchup.

Sure it limits the upgrades and in some cases means you lose out on being able to tune your car, but stock tunes tend to be pretty good anyway.

All that work tuning that Murc so it didn't understeer horribly and the lobby was full.

So, which car outclassed the rest?

Well, even more than just limiting the car to the same starting class, how about some spec racing. Pick one car, require all chassis and drivetrain upgrades, no engine upgrades, no engine or drivetrain swaps, no aero upgrades, stock wheels, and specify the tire compound. That way you focus on tuning rather than some cars being inherently better than others.

It was actually really close. The Lambos had a big advantage on acceleration, but I think nearly every car that didn't wreck had a podium finish at some point.

Because there's no way for the host to enforce these kinds of rules. Well, some of them he can, but not all.

I'm fine with the honor system, but there's always going to be an air of distrust that I'd like to avoid.

Well, then specify you have to use stock tires and no weight reduction, too. If you're all driving the same car, that's going to give you a very specific and low PI value. There's not going to be a hell of a lot of wiggle room for swapping chassis upgrades for engine upgrades and still match the PI.

Me three on this one; I'm so used to singleplayer I get all squirrely when I actually race a car with a brain behind the wheel. I mean, drivers can actually brake aggressively and try to edge me out on corners?! Who knew? Plus, I couldn't manage to tune out this weird mix of under and oversteer in the F355; I'd swing wide next to a dude in the turn, then ass-bump him into a spin. Oops.

I need to stitch together a couple clips to properly show that insane glitched wreck I managed to do driving in a straight line on Sunset. It's ridiculous. :x

Anyone know who Kiml0 is on the boards? Is he on Arcadians? He and I were neck and neck most tracks and I had a blast battling it out - supremely fun stuff.

Yeah, that's the first time I'd seen that happen in FM3. It was a weekly occurrence with FM2 however.

There was a video someone made of this happening, but I can't find it now. It was truly hilarious.

The Diablo was very responsive and accelerated well, got up to 186 on the Ring straight without any engine upgrades. Most of my passing was done in corners, but I got stomped on that GP track (the pit lane is so long holy god).

My Murc did much more awesome than I was expecting in the races I didn't disconnect from. Either I just picked the right car or I'm getting better at tuning (and driving). In any case, last night was a lot of fun as usual.

you basically warped to the right 20 feet which happened to be right behind me, and slammed me while going about 20mph faster than me lol.

also I dont think my 360 was that bad after all. I realized halfway through Sunset that the reason I was lapping so slow while tuning was I was breaking on turn 1, not realizing you can take it flat out.

I gotta fix me up some kind of wheel stand. I actually have a pretty comfortable, low-slung chair already, but lately I've just been sticking to using the controller because I wasn't happy with my wobbly, jury-rigged attempt at DIYing a wheel stand with an old shelf.

Also, is that notepad there plotting a torque/HP curve?

Heh, first thing I thought of that was, "Awesome chair! I bet that also doubles as a chick dispersal unit."

That's one reason I never got into Rock Band/Guitar Hero - no room to store the stuff you need to play. It's also unfortunately keeping me off buying a racing wheel too. I guess it's a controller until I think up a storage solution.
