Power Supply Problem?

So I get home today and go to turn on my computer. I press the "On" button, and nothing happens. I hear a rapid kind of chirping. I press the "On" button again, and nothing happens, but the chirping continues. I unplug the computer, and the chirping ceases. I plug the computer back into the outlet, and the chirping resumes. I look at my power supply and turn it off. The chirping stops. I turn my power supply back on. It starts chirping again. I try to turn on my computer. No dice.

What's going on?

This sound really isn't really a chirp. It's more like an inconsistant squeal. The general consensus on Google is that my Antec Smart Power 2.0 power supply is dead.

Do you all agree, and if so, what power supply do you recommend I replace it with?

Oh yeah, I had one of those, and it bit the dust making a noise like that. How long have you had the power supply. Antec does have a warranty - even if you bought it with a case, you can send just the PSU back ($12 USPS) and they'll send you a new one. Alternately, you can buy a new PSU - others might be able to tell you what kind you should get.

The PSU is around 8 months old.

Then you should be able to RMA it. Go to the support section of the antec website. You'll have to probably talk to technical support (either on the phone or via e-mail) and ask for an RMA because your power supply is dead. Then they'll give you a number and instructions on how to send it back. Then they send you a new one.
