"Reverse" Remote App? iTunes / iPod Touch Question

Pretty simple question: I just got an Altec portable stereo to plug my iPod Touch into, and am now wondering if there's any sort of application I can download to my MacBook to allow me to switch the music the iPod is playing, similar to how the Remote application on the iPod lets me control music on iTunes.
Basically, I enjoy flipping through music, and the speakers aren't exactly within arms' reach; it's not exactly the end of the world, but it struck me as within the realm of possibility that such an application might exist to save me from getting up every time I want a new song. I don't have good speakers for my computer at present, nor the necessary cord to hook the Altec into the Mac itself, so right now listening on my iPod is really the best option for me, though not necessarily the most convenient if I'm working on something from the computer.
(This probably makes me sound like a slovenly lard-ass. I'm just asking! :P )
