Boned USB-HDD can still be read from 360

Hey guys, I have an infuriating problem. I have a harddisk connected to my 360, which I use to play some media files, but I think I forgot to unmount it properly the last time I used, because it has developed an annoying error. It can still be read by the 360 and my media files can be played without any problems what-so-ever, but any PC refuses to acknowledge it. Finally, I got my Win 7 machine to accept that it was there and said that I should format the drive to use it.

Now, normally, that wouldn't be a problem at all, but seeing as I can't access the drive with any PC, I can't back up my stuff and I'd rather not do a backup-less wipe of this drive as there is a lot of stuff that I don't have anywhere else.

Anybody have any suggestions as to what I can do to try and back up the drive, reformat and copy stuff back to it?

Try downloading a copy of Ubunto and making a live disc, booting from it,and seeing if Linux can see the info on the drive.

Not so much Ubuntu, but something with Gparted, yeah.

Yeah, tried that already, no dice. Sometimes Gparted can see the drive, but not mount it, sometimes it can't see it at all. Same with straight parted, root permissions or not.

Just curious, but under Linux it at least sees the drive as a whole, yes?

    End on
I wish that someway, somehow, that I could save every one of us

Fdisk will list the disk as a whole after like five minutes of thinking time, gparted will for the most part just flatout ignore it and not list it at all.

Gparted, the Live CD or the program? I'd try both if I were you.

There's a straight gparted live CD? I'm just running it from my Arch install. I'll look into that.

Any way to remove the hard drive from the enclosure and connect it to your motherboard directly? Had to this recently with a drive I had in a USB enclosure and it managed to read the drive that way.
