Internet usage question

What is the average amount of bandwidth I would use per day to simply browse the net and play games on the 360? I've got a 25gb cap right now per month and I seem to be going over. Checking my daily usage from Bell's site, I downloaded 236mb today and uploaded 127mb.

All I've done today is play Red Dead Redemption online, check email, and browse forums. I've got no torrents running, nothing. Any ideas?

I'm on wireless, but it's protected, and I don't see any unfamiliar connections.

Do you stream anything often? Does your browser autoload/reload every youtube and/or pic linked?

If you are able to, you should use a router flashed with tomato to easily keep track of your monthly useage as well as see your real time bandwidth while you do different things.

236mb doesn't sound like much for playing a game online, checking email and forums. depending on how long you did it for.

I browse these forums a lot. I don't spend much time at all on youtube. I game for a few hours each day on average (several on one day, none on the next, etc.).

I could add another 40gb to my plan for $5, but I figured I'd never use that. I don't think I can flash tomato on my current router. It is a 3wire router/modem from Bell.

Can this be changed? I'm using firefox on both my PC and Fiancee's laptop.

A few things that should help:
Adblock plus and flashblock extensions for firefox, and increase the size of your browser's cache.
A good monitor program is networx, but it won't track your 360 usage and you need it installed on each pc you want to monitor.

The download sounds about right. My university had bandwidth caps for a while, so I'd have to watch my dl/ul all the time. A normal day with some halo or tf2, email checking, and general internet browsing (no youtube, hulu, etc.) would be between 200 and 300MB down.

As for upload, I don't remember exactly, but I don't know if it was that high. A few hours of gaming might put you up there.

No idea with FF but I would be very surprised if there's not an extension for it. I only use it as a last resort before IE, but I know Opera has an option to toggle images off, or to only show cached images, and doesn't load things behind spoilers until you click them.
