Welp I'm getting the, apparently very common, Connection Interrupted problem.
Had no trouble redeeming my Little Wing License, activated my PSP to my account, and it still shits the bed when it tries to bring up the terms of service.
EDIT: Nevermind. Apparently this problem is that Sega sort of forgot to get their servers running and didn't tell anyone, except this one dude on their official forums who let the ten people that frequent there know.
Yeah I heard on SA that the servers apparently aren't actually up yet. They're supposed to be up tonight. So I'll probably take this chance to familiarize myself with all the gameplay mechanics.
Edit: Also oh man guys, they cut out the voice acting in single player to make the file smaller. It's 400MB larger in the japanese release. Shit, what will I do without my amazing voice acting present in all PSU type games? Fuck my life, just gonna end it now.

Let's muck about with the Password Machine!

One point of interest, the elements on each weapon are randomized. You can only get one per set of save games, and it does not auto-save after redeeming the code.
So if you're obsessive compulsive like I am you're free to input a code, check the element, and reload if you're not satisfied.
Checking the "too difficult to actually get to even though it's official" forum, apparently NA servers and EU servers are shared. They are not split. So that's some pretty good news.

Especially for me, since it means I'll actually have some people to party with when it comes out over here. (2 days to go; hopefully my copy will be sent out today...)

Silly Amazon wasn't going to deliver PSP2 until Friday, and it hasn't even shipped yet. Just canceled and am going to hit up PSN to get this.
Also, I really get annoyed by the UMD noise, so I guess it all works out.
E: I didn't think about the cross-pond online capabilities of this, but I starting thinking about how crappy it was to not play with anyone from the UK on Monster Hunter Tri, that I went poking about, and it seems that servers between US and UK are linked. Nice!
I'm liking this game so far, but I must say that using the analog nub for movement is pretty uncomfortable!
This might tip me into picking up a Dualshock 3 to play it with.
As I don't have a PS3, this is not an option for me
Edit: What the crap. In story mode why is this wench sleeping IN MY BED. WE ARE NOT THAT CLOSE. I'M A ROBOT AND I HAVE NO USE FOR THE BED BUT IT'S THE PRINCIPLE OF THE THING!

So haven't played very many games that use infrastructure, but this is pretty damn keen. Just randomly joined a 3 person team around lvl 5, and had quite a bit of fun. I'd have a bit more fun if my wrists didn't wind up hurting so dang much after a while.
#1) Armor, the stats...what exactly do they do? Like I get DEF, and I'm assuming MIND reduces incoming magical damage (possibly reduces odds of status effects?), but what does EVADE do? Does it make my dodge roll cost less PP or what?
#2) How do I level up my NPC partners?
#3) Is there any particular reason not to spam the Upgrade Weapon button as much as you can?
#4) Are Casts with big guns the raddest?
Liking this game a lot, just wish the controls weren't so godawful on the hands.

1) DFP lowers physical damage, MST lowers magical damage, Evade gives you a chance of passively avoiding attacks, taking 0 damage.
2) NPC partner levels scale with yours, remove them from your party and put them back in to "update" their level.
3) Apparently higher rank weapons have variable grind rates, so that may be worth keeping an eye out for and re-loading if the grind doesn't turn out high enough.
4) Fists are way radder than big guns

Damnit, I would have liked to download this at work, but no PSN Store on Macintosh Boo.
From an outsider looking in perspective (I've never played a Phantasy Star game before) I'm a little perplexed by melee weapons. Why, precisely, would I ever want to get that close to a boss? My experiences with De Ragan suggest that's a recipe for getting maimed!

Because it's fun?

I only have experience with PSO, but hunters (melee guys) usually have the highest defense, so they're able to take a few hits. Also, most bosses had some kind of area/long-range attack to keep any character class on their feet.
Also, in the PSO days MST only affected the strength of your magic. Was it changed in PSU (and PS Portable) to magic defense? That's kind of weird.
Apparently I'm a lucky SOB, because my copy has been delivered a day early, meaning I won't be as far behind you guys across the pond as I could've been. Currently installing the game data, and then I'll get on with transferring my PSP1 character and seening how bad his wardrobe choices are.

Better do my homework real fast then.
Yup. Downloading now.
Gotta hurry and do this homework!
It's still downloading, aaaaaaaaaaagh.

This is taking forever.
Copying to my PSP now.
If the servers are up, you want to party Gilder, Glenn, Shady?
Yeah, but it just started downloading. Knowing the PSPs shitty download speed, I'll be waiting an hour for it to finish.

Or better yet a Sixaxis, since those are probably going for cheap now.
Yeah but the Dualshock is available in White so it matches my Go. :P

My university's wireless security doesn't allow handhelds online.
And I don't even know another person with a PSP.
