Fun help! Identify hit and run asshole by tail light design

Just hit a car parked out front (not mine) and sped away. Good chance they live across the street or are regular visitor that will be back.

It was a sedan style vehicle, and the tail light was, I think

a roughly triangular shape, angles not too far off from equilateral, red colored WITH (emphasis here)

2 parallel horizontal bands across them, composed of clear color section, or silver (chrome?)



possibly a mercedes? let's get his perp's car

Yeah, I am sorta wondering what I was thinking after I made that post.

The Kompressor certainly looks like a match though. The thing is pretty easy to pick out and there are not too too many of them on the road. If you see it in the neighborhood your probably good.

Be all sneaky like and check it for scrape marks next time it's around!

not a kompressor, they have a distinctive backend I woulda remembered. there's one actually next to the house i suspect the asshole was at.

there's also a good chance there's no border on the light like there is on the kompressor. just solid red apart from the 2 bands

yeah that's it and I tried to nail them. tried to, because the family of crazy mother and daughter came out and starting yelling at me accusing me of causing trouble and yammering about looking at the mercedes for damage.

I tried to explain that the trouble was caused when the driver (I guess from the yelling it was the daughter) hit the parked car and drove away.

and that checking the mercedes was pointless. whether or not the driver's car was damaged is irrelevant to the facts of it being a hit and run.

all I wanted was the parked car owner to know who hit them, and make their own decision about what to do.

there should be MORE people on my street doing the right thing and covering for victims of hit and runs (wish someone was around to witness my car's side mirror being bashed off a month ago)

Well, I hope the owner of the car that got hit gets compensated correctly. Kudos on the good samiritanism.

yeah now im just concered about retaliation in some form since they're aware im a neighbour :S

I've never been in a similar situation, but is it prudent to report to police that you believe that they were involved in a hit and run? And that there's been a confrontation between you and them? Just to have something on record to help establish a behaviour pattern should they actually do something to you.

"Hello, Police? I just saw a hit and run in my neighborhood. The car that drove away looked familiar, I think it was a neighbors."

Course you might be too late to do this and not have it be lying to the police.

if they had made threats of some sort I might. I think they just need to cool down and realise I was doing a good thing and they'd love me if it was their car hit and run and I was trying to inform THEM who did it.


edit: I should make it clear the owner is aware now and they'll decide whether to report or not
