I'm not sure if anyone has pointed this out yet or if this is the proper forum, but John Harper is in the process of creating a neat little RPG called The Wildlings inspired by WOTC's Heroes of Hesiod module and Penny Arcade's Lookouts comic.

There's a thread up about it on Story-Games

That's pretty cool actually, looks like a fun game. Somebody should give running this as a pbp a shot. Based on what I've seen it seems to be at the point where test games are possible.

I happened across this little game a few days ago. It looks well polished for being in test phases, but the game itself looks like it could be good fun. It's a bit simplistic (the creator does mentions younger or newer roleplayers being the target audience), but that is not necessarily a bad thing. I was a big fan of that adverb mechanic. Being able to describe how you go about and complete your goal. Pretty neat.

Harper's has an amazing ability to make small, tightly focused games that are elegantly designed and fun to play. He's also no slouch when it comes to layout and graphic design.

I'm looking forward to playing it some time soon.

I'd like to see the PA guys put some art to this game and make it an official Lookouts product with John Harper. :)

Over at Buring Wheel RPG forums there's an appreciation thread for Wildlings and Rafe said:

"Ha! Sweet. Mike Krahulik (Penny-Arcade's Gabe) is trying to find the other PDF, the guide, that goes with the Wildlings PDF. Hopefully this is step one in turning them to the dark side of small-press/indie RPGs."

Anyone know how to get John in contact with them? If could be pretty cool.

This is the same Rafe from the BW Forums. Mike's been directed to John via email, and John's been forwarded all the correspondence I've had with Mike re: Wildlings. At this point, they need to be in contact directly without a middle-man, though I've since gotten another email from Mike asking some rules-specific questions. So yeah... hopefully John will email Mike or vice-versa.

My feeling is that nothing will happen until John completes the GM's kit/guide. Regardless, that's the situation.
