so i need help decorating my place. I have no idea what to buy/how to buy.
I'm sharing the place with my GF. I guess i need some more living room furniture, office furniture, and some dressers etc for teh bedroom.
More importantly than pointing me to websites, can someone with
taste point out some specific stuff? I'd greatly appreciate it

some more details.
The living room i want fairly open, the desk that you see there is going in the office, along with a metal/glass computer desk. The couch/bed are all staying.
The office has to be a workspace, but double as a xbox/wii room. So i'm thinking computer chair for the corner desk, then gaming chair or couch for the TV in the corner. That TV might get replaced with a 21" widescreen monitor and tv stand or something for the consoles.
The huge TV in the living room is actually broke as fuck, and only ok for casual watching. I'll likely dump it when I get enough money to afford a projector, but for now, it's just the casual tv for news and sitcoms and stuff.
I'd also kinda like to find a place to stuff a futon, as I promised the folks a place to sleep when they came out to visit.

I've also got to fill this house with stuff. I came to vancouver with my cloths, and that's it. I need to buy everything.
So i guess that we're looking at ikea prices.
I don't mind paying a little extra for a nice love seat though. I prize comfort in my love seats, as long as they have some sort of financing option where i can take a year to pay it off interest free, or something similar
Same with other wood or wood+padded furniture, compared to standard "american" furniture. Unfortunately, in order to point out stuff based on taste, that would require more than just pointing you towards something cheap to stuff somewhere
I would personally put a futon-style (aka slim, which they do have at ikea) in the living room, facing the telly. Chair on the opposite wall, to close it off from the kitchen area. I would put one desk against the back wall in the "office" and another against a side wall -- that way you aren't back to back if you're both in there. I would ditch the couch entirely as well as one of the tellys, unless you really see yourselves needing to use it at the same time for different reasons.
but, i don't know you two's tv habits or how you generally spend your time. spaces should be set up to make the things you do the most the most comfortable.

A nightstand on one side is a good idea too, for an alarm clock/reading lamp and other such things.
If you want a futon, you might be able to fit one in the office along a wall so that it could also be used as a couch for video gaming during the day, and then folded down at night when you have guests.
When you have the spare cash, can I also suggest picking up some more artwork for the walls, and/or colored pillows for the couch and bed? The living room especially looks really cold right now with all the white - some more brightness in there might make it feel more home-ish. You can get prints of various art and poster frames really cheap at places like Michael's or Hobby Lobby (if they have those there - or whatever craft/hobby type store is around).
Perhaps have the fouton stick out from the wall so it creates a seperation between the livingroom and the kitchen/dinging area (well I suppose it's going to be office area, since you've got the desk there)
Lamps will go a long way to making the place homey too. Perhaps and end table or two and a coffee table. It's the bits and pieces that aren't *really* necessary that make a home more homey.
nah, the office is in the room to the left, the desk is just there now as a place to lay shit, cause it's all i have.
