So my son (5yrs old) has really been into Pokemon. He got his hands on a few of the trading cards and now he's gung ho on playing. With help I know we can play at least a modified version of the game - we play Magic now in a very simplified version and he loves it.
Today I'm going out and grabbing 2 (maybe 3 if the wife wants in) of the starter decks so we can play against each other. Is it best for me to get starter sets from the same series of games (like get just Heart Gold/Soul Silver starters)? Or doesn't it matter?
I played one of the early versions of Pokemon TCG and I recall it being relatively easy compared to MTG so you should be good on the complexity. In terms of which versions to buy and of them should be fine but I would start with the same version. Using a single version simplifies rules and they tend to be well balanced against the same set. This game very well emulates the general pokemon experience and hope you enjoy it!
