Yeah, you're not making it sound very interesting at all.
If you have a 360, download the demo of Rez HD and give it a shot (it's most of the first level) in the dark with headphones or a good 5.1 surround sound setup. If the way the audio, visuals, and gameplay don't really click with you, or you're not willing to let yourself fall into the game, then it might just not be your thing. My friends were split between thinking Rez was incredible or really "the gayest thing I'd ever seen in my life."
It was pretty much the gayest thing ever. A slow rail shooter with shitty music, which is supposedly the big draw of the game. Like you say, I guess it's just not for me.
Wow.
Surprised that Rez stole your title?
I kid, please don't kill me..

Rez's music gets better as each level progresses, since it's a constantly ascending scale of intensity.
Jesus Christ, is it me, or did the Passion level turn up the difficulty to "rape you in the ass" hard?

Well, it's in the post and should arrive tomorrow. But I won't be able to play until until a short stint on Saturday between finishing work and going out drinking. Really wish I checked play.com though, could have got a free t-shirt like Fraggle.

I really really want to get farther in this game but I'll likely have to buy a third Xbox, as my first red ringed outside the warranty period and my replacement's disc drive didn't last a year. I honestly don't use them this much.
But back to Rez2 it's super fun, and the third or fourth level seems difficult so far. But the other stages did too before I knew wtf I could shoot or not. Practice practice practice.
My friends were split between thinking Rez was incredible or really "the gayest thing I'd ever seen in my life."
Half your friends are jackholes.
Tell me about it! One of my good friends who is casually into gaming completely fell in love, though. When Rez HD came out I donated my PS2 version to him in a synesthetic version of paying it forward.
Minion: The game is definitely $39 in store at Toys R Us, I just saw it marked at mine a short while ago.
man, i wish TRU had stores up here, they get some good deals. if i hadn't already gotten it on amazon i'd be all over that. luckily, they had alice for $40 which was too hard to pass up.
this month actually turned out pretty good for games despite my lack of interest in duke
Fucking finally. I finally managed to beat Passion a minute ago. I played that damn level half a dozen times, and I just barely beat it.
Frankly, that seems too hard to me. Rez had a good balance where you could beat each level fairly easily, but perfecting them, and getting 100% on levels, power ups, and enemies shot down was where the real challenge lay. You didn't have to struggle so damn much, just to survive. But the amount of bullets those two orbs/running men spit out just gets fucking insane sometimes. And it's usually in two or three different clusters, each with it's own pattern, making getting every single one of them damn near impossible.

that would be incredibly handy considering I'm in a similar boat
Is that... is that just a magnifying lens clipped onto the front of the Kinect? If that works properly, it's kind of pathetic. What does Nintendo do when they find out a large amount of their consumers are having problems with a certain design aspect? They fix it for free (send out wrist bands, rubber remote sleeves). What does Microsoft do? They ignore it completely, allowing third party companies to create something and charge a shit load for it.
MS should be sending that shit out for free to all Kinect owners, if it works properly.

How much Kinect space do you actually need for Child of Eden? I'm about to go and rent it but I really don't want to have to lug the machine downstairs.

Any advice on the last boss in that level? I was stuck and frustrated last night so I quit for the evening. Stuck and frustrated is not the way one should feel when playing a game like this.
And not to be that guy, but so far, Rez was better.

Is that the satellite thing, or the spinning red/purple planets? Everything kind of fuzzes together for me.
And about Rez being better: Having completed Child of Eden once on Normal, generally I agree with you. But I think the two are kind of hard to compare since they have such different music, ambience, and aesthetics. Rez is all dark electronica and hard, sharp edges, whereas Child of Eden is bright, poppy, and curvy.
I love both of them a lot, so it's kind of like choosing between two wildly different albums from my favorite band: My current favorite depends on the mood I'm in.

It's the spinning purple/orange planet thing. They send off so many shots in varying patterns that I cannot get them all.

Play.com might have included a nifty-looking t, but as per usual game hasn't arrived.
Here's hoping it comes tomorrow or I'll not get to play it for another week!
Wait.
You can play this with a controller?
Suddenly I'm interested.
This highlights the flaw in the Kinect-pushing strategy. I can't use one (I just don't have the space for it to work), so I'd just dismissed this game out of hand.

Save your bombs, or whatever they're called. Try to take out as many of the bullets as you can, and only use the bombs when it's a giant random swarm of three clusters that you'll never manage to destroy.
I've gotta beat the game again to hear the song Lumi sings over the credits, but I reeeeeeally like this new Genki Rockets track "Curiosity" from the forthcoming second album: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hYceTKKcq3A

Best game I've ever played. From now on Mizuguchi has my money for life. I say this being a pretty big Genki Rockets hater and blowing a fuse over not hearing anything closer to Rez's tunes prior to release. The gameplay sound cues being layered on top of the remixes really elevated the music into something more than just sugar pop.
Now if only they didn't drop all that awkward FMV in the game.

Mizuguchi has always been god in my book. I got my title from from one of his games.
For some reason, I never realized that Genki Rockets had done anything other than the 2 Lumines Live songs. Looks like I've got a lot of listening to catch up on.

Basically just focus on the purple one because switching to octo-lock is way too time-consuming
Yeah, I'm using a controller to play my game (as god intended) so that isn't going to work.
