Is anyone else having problems getting the 10 ranked wins achievement?
I'm beginning to think that if your opponent drops out, it doesn't count towards it.
edit: Gamefaqs (yeah, I know) is saying something about if the host leaves/disconnects, no one can be awarded the ranked win.

got this game last night and I am fucking loving it. Me and my friend probably played it for 5 straight hours this morning.

wait, when did this happen? Does this have any of the optional rulesets from Risk? Like capping the amount of armies in a territory to 12, and allowing reinforcements at the end of a turn through connected territories? That's the only way my friends and I would play, keeps from people holing up in, say, Australia, and building up a massive army. It also makes it damn hard to control Asia, but I would always try, game after game.

No capping, but it has classic Risk and 2008 Risk. 2008 lets you move units as far as you want, as long as you have an open path.
i got the game last night and beat the campaign (wasnt that hard really), i seem to be running into a problem. After i beat the final campaign, the game doesn't seem to save. It stays at the objective stats with the fireworks, and I only have the option to press B to go back. I press B to go back, and I get the grats message, and that i have unlocked all of the maps, but no auto save appears. when i go to the main menu, i only have three maps. Confused here. Has anyone else experienced this problem?
Ok, I have to get used to the new risk. I was playing A XBL match, kicking ass, owning countries. When all of a sudden the guy who kep trying to take over the Temple with 1 army on his terrotories wins. He hit 3 objectives..... It was just a matter of turns/dice untill I owned the hole map!
Disapointed the campaign was only 5 maps, but fun game.
Yeah the "Command Room" mode has made me quite angry a few times. I'm clearly about to destroy the whole world and conquer everyone, but that guy got 3 cities in one turn so he wins? What the hell?
World Conquest is the best mode. Still have to capture everything, but the bonuses are still in so you get perks for doing well.
I need some tips on the final campaign mission. Its impossible to do anything as the damn Yetis. 5 troops at the first turn, but by the second turn I'm down to 3.. not enough to hold the temple or control any other territories...
also, fuck the AI and its cheating dice rolls.

Well, you can't cap 3 objectives in a single turn. You can only take 1 objective per turn, even if you actually win all 8 of them, you only get 1. Objective amounts are listed right next to Gamertags so they aren't exactly hiding or anything.
Usually what I would do, is earn my first 2 objectives, and then start having fun playing conquest. Then if someone was trying to be sneaky and squeeze out his 2nd objective, I either destroy his entire force, or I just take my 3rd objective for the win.

AI will never attack a territory unless it has stronger than a 2 army advantage. So just pump your draft into the temple. Load it up with some 5s and 6s, and you'll be fine. Then just start jacking all the larger armies on the map, pump your drafts into them, and start killing them from the inside out.

All the games i've seen once someone pulls off two objectives (And you can earn them in one turn, but only enact one at a time, per turn. SO you can earn all three in one turn and be guaranteed to win in 2 more.) and then slaughters the hell out of everyone else and instantly wins the third.

Half of them don't carry over to your next turn though. Something like "control all of Asia" would, if you didn't lose it... but something like take over 7 territories in 1 turn won't ever carry over. Overall, I like the objectives, it adds more depth to the game. If you pay attention to the objectives, you will need to defend territories you normally wouldn't care about.

I haven't played Risk in ages, but is there a decent grouping of PA players for this? Because I could stand screaming at people who aren't random XBL stooges and aren't ten years old. Also, who realize screaming at people is the point of Risk and won't take it personally.

Let the stupid AIs fight for the Temple, and get control of the islands south and north of it. Seriously, they will fight each others like mad men and no one will get to use the temple. If someone get the whole island and no AI waste his troops on it, simply attack then leave. About half-way in the game, all the AIs will use their cards in the same turn. Use yours in the next turn and beat the shit out of everyone. Defend temple, use it, win.
Never played Risk but I bought this. God damn the AI is so cheap. It defended a stack of 20 with its 3 defenders.
Bleh...
You wouldn't be surprised if you played Risk before!
To be fair, he does happen that the AI waste all of his troops on my weak defense. You kind of forget about it quicker than when it happens to you because there's way less swears and anger.

Double and Triple 6s are both amazing and devastating at the same time.
Wait, it is 5 player local? I thought each person needed their own controller to play?
I've heard its 5 player local, haven't tried it myself. I had assumed you could pass the controller (this is based on reviews). Maybe its only 4 player local?

I may have to get this if there's a PA crew for it.
While the objectives are fun, I'm not sure I like them. Tonight I won a game patiently, but easily. Once I got the extra dice on defence it seemed a matter of time. Add in the guaranteed card, and just sit back, build forces, and expand.
Wow do so many people quit in the first few minutes of this game. One idiot who acted after me, decided to place his capital right next to mine with no troop advantage of South America. I load my troops to take it, giving me an airbase in my capital. Then I stop attacking. he goes, gets his capital, but Taking his back isn't enough. He all or nothings at my capital, then quits. Giving me an advantage over the other 4 as he made a nice wall into N. America untill I was ready to take S. America.

I had a guy who quit on his very first turn. He put all his troops on one place, lost all of them on his first attack (pretty fucking unlucky) and then promptly quit. It was pretty lulz.
I remember one match with the CPU that I couldn't crack a place with 5 guys with 30 guys in it. I quit that game, because man that is some nonsense there.
Looked at my stats and was surprised to see my dice rolls were actually fairly even. It really doesn't seem that way. I wish they also showed double 6's.
I recently got this game and after finishing it Im up for some XBLA action.
I never played classic risk before so the game is pretty new to me but Im enjoying it as decent turn based stategy games are few and far between these days.

So I have 12 super overkills logged but no achievement. Grr.
I just checked the local play thing and everyone needs their own controller as far as I can see.
Are you sure you have 12 super overkills? The game only counts how many overkills you have (it combines both regular and supers into one stat).
I actually got the achievement shortly after posting that. And I'm pretty sure that the game tracks both stats, doesn't it? I definitely knew the difference when I posted, so I'm not sure what's up with that (and I don't have an Xbox with me for a while now, socan't check offhand).
All I need now is the ten ranked wins to 200/200 this. I kinda feel like I've missed out on the community play, which is a shame.

If you want to do this the "quick" way, here is what you need to do/know.
1) You only get credit for a ranked win if the host of the ranked match doesn't leave.
2) The quickest way to do this is create a ranked 1v1 match, and play your first turn very very smart, don't over extend yourself. Go for the extra Attack/Defense Die if you can.
3) Basically, look for any way to piss off your opponent in the first turn. Taking his capitol and nothing else if you've got the numbers usually will do it.
Also thinking about getting this. XBLA needs more board game goodness.
I manage to find games even at 12-3 am PST, even though it may take a few games to get a good one in. Its quite fun, and if you like risk, its worth the money.
I will never be able to do well at command room. Want the achievement, every time I'm doing good someone gets 3 objectives. I even look for them! I need to learn which ones are immediate and which ones you need to hold for a turn. Or play like every other idiot and go balls to the wall every turn.
Please tell me the achievements really don't only count if the host doesn't leave? If so I feel bad leaving when I get knocked out. But what am I supposed to do if I got shitty placement and get knocked out. Stick around and watch 4 guys play for an hour? Host migration doesn't work right?
Just as I post the above I get the command room achievement. I get a game with objectives set up for Conquer the World, 2 people quit early on my side of my map so I can use them as lands I can controll, achievement.
*Edit* and the reason I won't play anything but the clasic map is the island. It is retarded. Once somebody gets that you have nothing to do but to spread out. And whatever you take counts before you get armies.

Only problem with boardgames on the 360 is the community dies really quick.
