Cross breeding of animals isn't exactly anything new.
The fuck you think a mule is?
Oh wait, no one knows anything about 19th century animal breeding.
How many hours have I wasted at parties vainly trying to have a coversation about this? Then I finally find someone who knows what I'm talking about and I realize that I don't actually want to talk to this person about anything.
Flygon's natural habitat is the desert, across which it flies. Flygon's wings kick up a cloud of dust and sand each time they flap, so that whenever Flygon moves, it is surrounded by a constant sandstorm. This provides Flygon with a useful cover from enemies and other unwanted visitors who lose themselves in the dust cloud, while Flygon itself maintains perfect vision thanks to red covers that shield its eyes from the storm. But it is at a disadvantage in the jungle because the trees are so close together they cover almost the entire floor of the jungle from a bird's-eye view. These red covers imply that either Flygon would prove colorblind to red, or that in the evolution from Vibrava to Flygon, the green eyes were covered by the red coating, regulating the vision to normal coloring.

Huh I always thought that book was about a train or something. I never read it because fuck I don't want to read about trains for more than the manual to Railroad Tycoon II.

Flygon resembles a large dragonfly or an adult ant-lion and, at the right angle, has some aspects of a Parasaurolophus. It has a long green body with two short legs, two rudimentary forearms and a long striped tail ending in a fan-like shape. It has two large rhombus-shaped wings. These qualities, along with its Ground/Dragon dual type, make it Pokémon's ideal insect dragon.
When inside a Flygon-created sandstorm, the only thing one is aware of is the melodious sound of Flygon's wings, which can resemble the notes of a song. Because of this, and the Pokedex related cry, it is thought that perhaps Flygon has the ability to buzz its wings at a rapid pace to create a melody. It is thanks to such experiences that Flygon is classified as a "Mystic" Pokémon in the Pokédex and is traditionally said to embody and personify the spirit of the desert.
It may be worth nothing that Flygon is not the only Pokémon classified as a Mystic Pokémon. That title has also been awarded to Xatu, but the two Pokémon do not seem to have much in common save for their color (they are both green in color).
I love that word.
