eh comparing movie times to video times is dumb anyways, especially when I just saw Inception, a 2 and a half hour long movie, for $7.50
In general the increase of XBL 'default' prices from $10 to $15 was already pissing me off, I only ever play games 1 time, and if the game really is only 3 hours long than I can't justify 15 bucks on that to myself.

I don't begrudge you that. I was just hooked on the look of this game from minute one. Something about it really turns my crank.
Most reviews are actually giving this a 5-6 hour playtime, if that will assuage the 3 hour fears.
I hope that's right, that seems more realistic for the price. I'm interested to see if it has an achievement like Braid's that will require replays as well.
This game is an easy 10 hours for me. I suck at puzzlers and it looks amazing. Plus LewieP said horrible deaths for the main character. I'm all for that.

gametrailers video review is up, they confirm it takes 3 hours to beat and a playthrough after that will take just under 1 hour
Every review I've read so far is reporting 5-7 hrs. Most of the time GT is full of it, so either they're geniuses over there or every other reviewer so far is borderline mental.
the GT's reviewer's, play on easy I'm betting, these days if your a hard core gamer, which most of us are, and not playing on "hard" "nightmare" or whatever, you're cheating yourself. Games are to easy for the likes of us. I site Alan Wake, Dead Space, Gears of War, Modern Warfare as examples. These games literally halve their run times on the lower difficulty.
my god, i have to count the number of things wrong in this post
i count eight! eight things wrong with this post!
anyway, who gives a shit about the length if it's this good
it's not like most XBLA games are known for their excessive run time

A quick look at your forum history will show a long list of infractions for being an abusive, condescending a**hole, nice to see you've learned your lesson.
Just because he is abusive and condescending doesn't mean he isn't right.
Anyway, back on topic, this bears the mark of Out of this World, and that is excellent company to be in.

Seriously though, the length of this game isn't an issue for me, it's all about the atmosphere.

One image I saw on the slideshow they have on Live (I wouldn't check it out, best to experience it in-game) had me actually gasping and putting my hand to my mouth, so I expect this game to have quite an impact.

Yeah, that's how I'm seeing it, and that game was less than an hour long. Same with the original prince of persia, similar-ish (fairly hard, stylish puzzle/platformer) and it HAD to be completed in under an hour.
Anyway, I keep trying to stop myself from watching clips. The use (or lack of) sounds really adds to the atmosphere. It really puts you on edge at all times.
If this game is as well done as it appears, then it'll be well worth the money.
Unfortunately, for me, DQ9 is even more worth the money, so with limited funds, that's going to be taking precedence. Maybe I'll pick Limbo up for Christmas.

Wow is this a terrible post. I'm glad you think you know everything about the average person who posts here or what they enjoy and find fun in a video game and what makes some one a 'hard core' gamer
I'm a "hard core" gamer who usually plays on the highest difficulty but I don't find that increases the fun. It's more like a way to make a boring game interesting.
I just don't think challenge is even 20% of the fun of a game, and I mean that twitch bullshit by challenge. And from what I've seen of this game it has nothing to do with difficulty. What kind of fucking difficulty setting would a platformer such as this or Braid have anyway?
I've read 5-6 reviews now from various sites, and they were all positive and 80%+. I 've been trailing this one for awhile, can't wait.
The one thing I didn't like (from the reviews anyhow) is that many of the puzzle are a sort of 'learn-by death' style. Like, most of them catch you so off guard that you have to die once to understand it.
Then again the deaths are so awesomely gruesome, that maybe it's not such a bad thing.

It seems like that's the concept of the game, like death is a part of it.
Limbo is a beautiful thing, a beautiful game. It’s clever, it’s very pretty to look at. But more than that, it’s got soul. It stays with you after you’ve completed it, and I’m certainly going to come back to it.
Yeah, okay, but you need some sort of credibility to...
Like the best of the games in it’s heritage (Éric Chahi’s works mostly, ICO too)...
If Braid is the one you didn't like, I understand...
I don't.
Even if you're bothered by the "pretentious" story, it's far enough removed from the world (you have to actually stop and read the books) that you can just consider it a time-traveling 2d platformer if you want. And it was a damn good one, even if you remove the story.

Except for that the controls just felt off the whole time. I agree that the time-traveling platformer concept is a neat one, but I can't count the number of times I knew what to do and had to fight with the controls to make it happen.

Maybe it's because I played it months late on a whim, but it just didn't have the same impact as Flower. Of course it was good, I just didn't like it.
Heck, I enjoyed Winterbottom more than Braid, and I didn't even finish that.
Edit: I admit ignorance, please explain the Vinny comment.
The only thing that's keeping me even a little bit iffy of it is Brad Shoemaker's love for it
Basically he's amping it up the way he did Braid and Flower, one of which I thought was alright and the other I thought just flat-out was awful
Well I agree with you that Braid was flat out awful, one of the most overrated games this generation but Flower is one of the best games released in the last couple years, I want to play this but might not get it right away.

The funny part is that I often dislike artsy-fartsy indie games, but Braid really struck a chord with me; even outside of the story and Deep, Layered Meanings, it was still a clever, ingenious, all-killer no-filler puzzle platformer. The fact that I ended up really connecting to its other aspects was a wonderful side effect.
That said, I'm wondering if the general "Limbo is this year's Braid" vibe will end up helping or hurting Limbo itself. I think Braid was so polarizing—I think one of the reasons I really liked it is because it wasn't hyped up at all in my head and I got to it before online feedback really set ablaze with its best ever/worst ever polarity—that people will end up projecting their opinions of that directly onto this. It might (pardon the pun) not be able to step out of the shadow of Braid. I hope not, as it looks pretty keen on its own.

Daemon Hatfield gave it some great compliments. 5-6 hours on his report.
I liked his last line "This is one of my favorite games ever".
The price is fine for me, I'll gladly support talented devs.

I can understand a person not liking Braid, but I lose a lot of respect for them in the process.
All right, people. It is not a gerbil. It is not a hamster. It is not a guinea pig. It is a death rabbit. Death. Rabbit. Say it with me, now.
