My only problem is tied to how slow you move when you're deflecting blasters
Outside of that, I liked the looks of the various combos, particularly when you do a couple saber hits then force lightning and it makes your saber blades a giant bolt of lightning.
I'm interested in this mainly because it's an in canon representation of the force not being the cause of someone being darkside/lightside, which has always been a downside that forced star wars to have generic black/white confrontations i think.
Wait, targeting feels "improved?" That scares me for the first game.
It was pretty bad
Don't get me wrong, the first game is still fun, but the targeting can be frustrating enough to turn a Jedi to the Dark Side. I recently Platinumed the first game and the number of times I tried to stun an enemy with force lightning on the hard mode runthrough only to have the targeting switch to a small chunk of nearby debris at the last second...

You guys are insane if you think those videos show Vader being a chump.
Because I see him taking a nuclear weapons worth of damage and getting up again as if nothing happened.
It's so bad ass its not funny. He's all like "So? You think that was good?"

Man, this demo was waaaaay better then the TFU 1 demo. Graphics look noticeably cleaner, right off the bat. Great textures on the walls, like with the water running down the windows.
It's been quite a while since TFU, so my memory of the combat is kinda fuzzy. But the lightsaber combat in this demo felt really tight. Force powers felt about the same, though the targeting seemed more accurate. Force push blasts were very effective. The Force mind trick was a nice touch, though I doubt you'll get to use it more then a couple key points in the campaign, it'd just be way too overpowered otherwise.
It definitely impressed me, so I'm getting the game day one I suppose. The only complaint I can think of is that with Castlevania still taking up a lot of my time, and now TFU 2, it's gonna be kind of a heavy dose of God of War style gaming this fall.
Vader does seem like a bit of a chump though. First being a whiny bitch in the prequels and jumping onto Kenobi's lightsabers on that lava planet. Then being betrayed by the TFU guy, then cloning him so he can get punked again in this game. And then later, getting beaten by Luke? Can this guy do anything right?

Huh? You can force trick anyone after you get the power and they'll fight on your side. I had a jetpack trooper fighting with me and stuff.
What is this shit "It'll be op" man this is force unleashed. Use it as much as you like.

Is it random if the Mind Trick victim goes nuts or commits suicide? I can see it being annoying if a powerful enemy you wanted to do your work for you pulled a Highlander instead.

Well, I meant using it to tell people to commit suicide. Ya know, it'd kinda be like M Night's The Happening, in Star Wars.
I just tested it out.
Works on everyone.
Things they do: dive into those spinny things. Dive into force fields. Dive over cliffs. Grab their head, go nuts, attack other people. ("There's a spy among us" is one of the things starkiller says when they do that)
I got two jetpack troopers to face off and kill each other.
I was fighting two melee guys, I just stood there and blocked and made them both leap off the bridge.
It uses a lot of force though. You can't just do it to a whole group at once. Although probably you'll be able to do that once it is upgraded. Oh I didn't try to use it when my powers were in the berserk state. I should check that out.
It is very much and

If you use it in berserk state, it gets a TON of people. I did it to the last two dropships after you kill the two walkers. I think it turned every single trooper, but they started dying so fast it was hard to say. The last guy left alive was under my mind control still though.
Ah, yes, this IS the same demo from PAX, though it looks a bit cleaned up, unless it's my imagination (and the lack of showfloor distractions) altering my memory a bit. Still, good stuff.
Also, I nominate "*wave* You are Surrounded by Rebels" for thread title.

I'm just sorry the first game's storyline veered away pretty quickly from being "Darth Vader's secret apprentice", which is probably the coolest thing ever to come out of Star Wars canon. Since it's set during the Jedi Purge era between trilogies, it would have been lots more fun to have stayed loyal to Vader and continue to hunt down rogue jedi and the fledgeling rebellion, with the occasional battalion of stormtroopers as collateral damage. Even an inFamous-style morality meter would have been better than just "OK, you're a good guy now."
Starkiller's character model looks kind of off. I don't know, like it's fuzzy somehow. He looked better in Soulcalibur 4 than in either one of his own games.
Not sure about the h8 at the story either. it actually follows pretty well with canon with the only exception being that the events werent mentioned. however the only evidence we have in the first game that seems to conflict with canon is that liea never mentioned starkiller in the original trolofies or in the books after.
I bet we will see another bit of canon in the second ...that a dark jedi was killed on degoboh, and that was what hid yoda from the empire all those years. I'm betting that its going to be starkiller killing one of his own clones that does it.

God I hope they haven't screwed this game up.
Edit: Initial demo impressions are positive.
Edit2: Yeah this game feels a lot better put together than the previous utterly terrible effort. It's actually fun. Also you can dismember stormtroopers with the lightsaber, so I have no idea what UnbreakableVow is going on about.
Yeah, Unbreakable Vow just got unlucky and based all his opinions on one sample out of about 100 storm troopers you get to kill. I am constantly chopping their arms and heads off. So much fun.
And when you're faced by about 30 Storm Troopers and you go into Force Overload mode and mindcontrol them all at once, you sit back and watch half of them punch eachother and the other half commit suicide. God. Bless. This. Game.

Yea, this doesn't bother me. I don't need limb removal in order to enjoy a Star Wars game.
But Brainiac! Gaw! The haven't replicated the fictional universe the game is based on to absolute perfection! How can you have fun?
I like the dismemberment. But seriously, if they took the lightsaber and just made it do what it's supposed to do the game would be way too easy. Oh, there is a locked door! Not anymore. An AT AT? So scary! 'Cept now it has no legs.
Maybe if blaster fire was amped up and you had to play it sorta stealthy like, but then that would totally ruin the whole running into a room and ruining people's shit aspect of the game. this newer iteration is pretty good. Definitely try it again UV.
I have a complaint about the force targeting though, I found it really choppy when selecting objects and then throwing them at specific targets.
The visuals are much better--in fact, the game is pretty sharp looking (I was a little disappointed when I broke a rain-slicked window and water didn't drip from it, but whatever, it might have been unreasonable to expect them to model that). The falling sequence was...kind of stupid, but hey, they're trying to mix it up, so I can't fault them.
Force targetting seemed much improved. It's still kind of awkward unless whatever you want to hit is directly in front of you though. Probably just takes a little getting used to.
Lightsabers still feel like whiffle bats though. Whiffle bats you swing really, really fast, and break off pieces of armor, which is a nice touch.
I've only seen one type of storm trooper in the demo take extra hits from a light saber, and that's the close combat guards that have stun sticks suroinded by an energy feild. And even then they only seem to stick around more when they block with their energy stick thing.
At least on 'normal', most of the stormtroopers seem to take three or four hits each before they fall. They may or may not loose a limb, which is actually better--everyone loosing limbs might seem kind of ridiculous.
However, they're really, really fast hits. You can do it in literally less then a second with a combo.
The staff-armed troopers take many more hits, unless you struck them before they had a chance to block.
The new Metal Gear game with the swordplay... Metal Gear Rising, I think? That has dismemberment, and anime-style jets of blood.
Were you to remove the blood and instead have PG-13 friendly Star Wars cauterisation wherever your sabre hits? Big improvement. I agree with the whiffle bat comment, even if I'm not entirely sure what a whiffle bat is (must be an American invention)!
Wiffle Bat (we all spell it incorrectly from force of habit, I guess).
In the context of TFU, it seems like we're breaking the stormtroopers into pieces, rather than chopping them up with something with a fine, sharp edge. The Apprentice-clone swings them really fast, and presumably really hard. Also, sometimes they just fall down.
Not a huge deal, but it's just something a few of us have observed. Personally, I think it's just an attempt to encourage people to use the force powers more. They put a lot of work into those.

Are you guys playing a different demo? I'm on medium and the Stormies only seem to take one hit and usually end up in several pieces on the floor.
Love the demo and yeah everything except the lightning staff dudes die in one direct hit on normal. I am laying waste to everything in my path. Love the mind trick. I really don't need another game right now but putting this off might be hard.
Ok, enough of this bullshit. Everyone, pick up your controllers, start up the demo.
First stormtrooper you see, I want you to press the attack button once. DO NOT MASH. Is he dead? If not, press it again. STOP.
Continue this pattern until the stormtrooper is dead. Come back and report your findings, along with difficulty level you played on.
OK THEN.
Normal Difficulty.
"Rebel Trooper" = 1 hit
Storm Trooper = 2 hits
Storm Trooper with Staff = 4 hits (can block hits)
Dismemberments on EVERY enemy I killed with sabers. EVERY SINGLE ONE.
Yes, you can continue to wail on a "corpse", keeping it standing until the end of your combo. If it's "taking forever" to kill Stormtroopers, you're either fighting staff users that are blocking, or you're just button mashing and not realizing that you killed them already.
Either way, YOU'RE DOING IT WRONG.

To be fair. Vader didn't even react to getting hurled through multiple metal walls. He just kind of shrugged it off.
Edit: What Morninglord said. Starkiller is trying to act all badass, throwing Vader through walls, and he's all "Eh? That's it?".
