Break out the punishment rod, then, because IN is probably the game I like the least among all Windows Touhou games :P. Excepting Stage 4, which is glorious (sidenote: Marisa is a million lightyears ahead of Reimu in terms of difficulty. Curse you, Marisa, and your ghost-annihilating beams), the game always felt rather boring compared to, say, PCB, or lately, UFO.
A new Suguri game huh. Well 'Sora' I guess. I always thought it was a pretty good series and AoSx is great fun. Good to see more though I'd rather see a game with Kae as the main.

Touhou Labyrinth should be a dungeon crawler, not a rougelike.
Actually, yeah. There is an actual game called Touhou Labyrinth. I forgot about that. It's Mysterious Dungeon or whatever.
Man, Alice's face in the artwork used for her boss fight is all kinds of I'll just link to [vidurl=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-fZpKvamPgU]this video[/vidurl] since I can't quickly find a decent screenshot of it.
I still need to get around to beating the game (other games plus the fact that it doesn't run in Linux limited my run through the game to when I was working towards the Eintei bosses) but the bosses have always provided a nice challenge so long as you don't start grinding levels like crazy.
You learn to be paranoid when moving around the map...you do not want to rush through the dungeon and accidentally run into a boss unprepared. Especially one like Tam's Foe (any of them), who you will be underleveled for when the fight is first available.

The art in that game was all sorts of whack from what I remember. Pretty interesting take on the dungeon crawler genre though.
It varies a lot. I swear Komachi looks like a coke fiend, and Yukari just looks silly with the huge ribbon and BOOBS. If you looks at the cover I posted you can see the artwork used for most of the characters there (PLUS Disc characters excluded).
I missed its release, but the Special Disc was released in June and includes some of the features from the "unstable" 2.06 patch (like New Game+) and more. One of those features is the ability to change your character artwork. I'll be using these one (and the associated portraits) for Kanako, Meiling, and Kaguya:
Iku (and a few other characters) will be getting SWR sprites or ones that mimic that art style when not available (like Wriggle).
So if the art bothers you, there is a solution.

Huh. Rouga does still have his kick. Couldn't figure out the motion for it... back to testing.
Ah, 214A. And only A. *shrug*
Also, I'm almost certain you can tech out of both of those. Eri's 5A is techable basically immediately.
Edit: Both their 5As are techable as soon as they hit the peak of their arc, probably other parts too, but that's the easiest to check, so yeah, those are technically invalid combos.
Also, they need to make the tech noise quieter. Ow, my ears.
Editx2:
Huh. There are a ton of sprites in the folder that I can't seem to find in the trial. Looks like supers and intro/win/loss poses.
A.) Holy fuck is it glitchy as hell. I've died while literally sitting inside my ice a couple times (shots that spawn downscreen can apparently hit you if you're too close before the freeze kicks in) and one of the boss spellcards glitched the fuck up. It was one of the ones where there are rows of fireballs while other things track you. I died, and after I respawned, the fireballs started tracking me too. That made it slightly impossible.
B.) There's way too much memorization. Half of these spellcards feel like unless you know what's coming and when to freeze, you're just outright fucked. And I'm still playing on Normal. Like there's one that's just a constant wall of fireballs that drop down until halfway where about half disappear, a quarter stay fireballs, and a quarter turn into shots. Except every 5th wave or so, they all just turn into shots, so you have to freeze that line. So if you just used your freeze... OOPS, you're dead. Or that one with the shots that decelerate until they come to a stop... and then suddenly accelerate directly at you. Hope you were already charging or avoided that swarm entirely instead of just making small dodges.
C.) Lame spellcards. Everything feels like the generic flower shapes, tracking, or flower shapes plus tracking. Plus rows of fireballs. The mechanics are about the only creative thing about it and I'm already sick of/frustrated with 'em.
Wow, that's the very opposite of my experiences. Haven't found a single glitch, and the game is being fun and fast far as I've played, and, surprisingly, a LOT harder than most Touhou games. All in all, I'm loving it, to be honest - though I do trip a bit sometimes with having to pay attention to too much stuff at times.
It's true that the spellcards themselves aren't quite as creative as the usual ZUN fare, though. But since the game is so fun and so incredibly colorful, I'm willing to forgive the sameyness of the patterns.

That looks pretty good. I'll wait for it to become available through legitimate means, though.
(Unless you guys somehow found a place that has the actual CD in stock. A quick check through Himeya and Paletweb yielded no results.)
The official games take about a month to get stocked by retailers. ZUN limits sales of new games at Comiket to one per person, so no luck there if you knew someone that was going (assuming they're a fan of the series).

The TL patch for Maristice is out, for anyone interested... not like you really need to read anything to play the game. It's a pretty great little Solstice clone though.
It's also brilliant in a lot of ways and absolutely wonderful (and pretty gorgeous in HD, too). I really hope we get the chance to dig into this one, even though we anticipate a script that'll put Recettear's to shame.
Yeah, re: Koumajou, wasn't there suspicion that there was ripped art in the original? That's what stopped me cold when taking a look at it (well, that and the fact that it already has an (iffy) English version built in).
Meh.
I miss the sprites and hate Japan's laziness with "we'll draw something, then just add pretty visual effects instead of animation." Fucking Eushully etc.

Oh wait. Supers are in the game. Hmmm
Thoughts on it.

Kind of wish this had... well... more than 10 minutes of game. Oh well. I'm hearing good things about Tasofro's Marisa World thus far.

Shouldn't Frontier Aja be concentrating on BBB2?
Oh well, I do love the Scarlet Symphony art style. I do like the old SS Sakuya design more, but this is jive too.

Meiling as the 'axe' is very silly. That's on easy too. Hard mode is much nastier.
