The new forums will be named Coin Return (based on the most recent vote)! You can check on the status and timeline of the transition to the new forums here.
The Guiding Principles and New Rules document is now in effect.
The current plan is to attempt to start the Holiday Forums on December 23rd sometime during the day. During this time, the Future State Planning Center will remain open. The Holiday Forum merge will last (if Vanilla cooperates) until January 3rd.
So The Avengers film is finally coming together! We'll know more about it after Marvel's Comic-Con panels today, but for now, here's what we know.
Joss Whedon is directing the film. Zak Penn originally wrote the script but it looks like Whedon is either throwing it out or just reworking the entire thing. This is good because fuck Zak Penn.
I am still writing an outline. I am still in that stage of reworking, reworking, reworking. I will say that the thing that I love about it, the thing that made me excited to do it was just how completely counterintuitive it is. It makes no sense. These people should not even be in the same room, let alone on the same team. And that, to me, is the very definition of family.
Above is the cast for the film that has been confirmed (except for Ruffalo, more on that in a sec). You may be wondering why Jeremy Renner is up there and that's because Whedon confirmed that he'll be playing Hawkeye.
That's pretty much it! We don't know anything about the plot since Whedon isn't using Penn's script. Jon Favreau is an executive producer on the film so that's good and I'll update when we know more!
Whedon does family-dynamic situations pretty well so that's a plus for the film. He's also going to have more resources than he's ever had (money, the other Marvel film directors, Downey Jr.) and the knowledge that this is supposed to be Marvel's biggest film.
I'm not saying that I'm not worried, but I wouldn't be surprised if this turned out good

Anyway, hoping we see more of Sam Jackson in a greater capacity in this one.
HE IS SAMUEL MOTHER FUCKING JACKSON. IF HE IS NOT KICKING SOMEBODY'S ASS, YOU ARE WASTING HIS POTENTIAL.
you've broken my heart, Joss
Never mind.
Why do people hate him
it still could be!
as long as samuel l jackson gets to kick some ass
Steam
That's cool cause my name is also Clinton and that makes Hawkeye the best character in history
Dear satan I wish for this or maybe some of this....oh and I'm a medium or a large.
seriously
look at his greasy hair
you can just tell he smells bad
He made Buffy the Vampire Slayer, Angel, Firefly, and Dollhouse.
He wrote a run on Astonishing X-Men.
People hate him because he has a fairly distinctive writing style that gets on some peoples' nerves.
Dear satan I wish for this or maybe some of this....oh and I'm a medium or a large.
also Fillion would not have been a good Hank Pym (Alan Tudyk on the other hand...)
Clint Barton
wha
what
it's a comic book movie
there's a sizable anti-Whedon internet hate machine, I've found
Or a bunch of irritating future slang that sounds completely ridiculous.
I guess I meant to say shitty one liners
Dear satan I wish for this or maybe some of this....oh and I'm a medium or a large.
Fuck yes
Finally a character in a movie where they might say "Clint" a few times to a main character
Dear satan I wish for this or maybe some of this....oh and I'm a medium or a large.

I've never enjoyed any of his other stuff.
When I gave them a chance
Dear satan I wish for this or maybe some of this....oh and I'm a medium or a large.
