Disc repair items

Ok, so a while back I thought I got luckly and picked up Chrono Cross for like $12 at EB back in... Augest?

Anyway, I pop it into my PS2 the other night and I get the Square-EA screen then the Squaresoft logo (with waterdropletts) and then it freezes. I try a few other methods/machines and get the same result. Looking at the disc, I'm guessing the previous owner's machine was nearsighted and had to get REALLY close to read the thing. There a scratch all around the disc, in a perfect circle.

Since PS1 discs are a somewhat different texture then a standard CD, is there anything I can use to repair this thing?

Gamestop will resurface games and CDs for a couple of bucks. That's probably your best bet.

Circular scratches are the worst on that type of media. Resurfacing it might not work, but it is your best bet. You could try a polish like D-Skratch but I have never had much luck with any polish and circular scratches.

I'll try this out... Will EB do this as well? Some of them have that "seperate but equal" mentality

It's been scientifically determined that Brasso is by far the best thing to use short of an industrial resurfacing machine. I'm not joking. If you can't get EB to do it, buy some Brasso and google it. There are several articles on it.

Do not use toothpaste. I repeat, do not use toothpaste. Use Brasso.

I used Brasso to clean up the floor model iPod I just got for cheap. It works wonders, and I've heard it works great on CDs too.

It's $4 in the cleaning isle at your supermarket. Get some gloves to wear while applying it, with a soft cloth, like microfiber.
