As you can guess by the title of my thread, I believe I have a problem with masturbating too much.
I have been masturbating
every day for the past
six years, and the effects have worn on me.
I can't concentrate, I have memory loss, things aren't as enjoyable to me... I feel lazy, depressed, stupid even though I am highly intelligent..
I am moody, I feel fatigued nearly all the time and find it hard to sleep sometimes. I have physical problems as well, such as not orgasming correctly, having infections in my well, penis causing my urine to have trouble coming all the way out, and I am CONSTANTLY constipated. Along with muscles aching all the time.
It's had an absurd effect on my life, and up until some recent research, I had no clue it was linked to my masturbation. Hell, masturbation doesn't even feel great anymore, well as great as it did once upon a time since I started. It's effected my school, social and family life, and I want it to stop.
So, I'm considering just cold turkeying on it. Not masturbating AT all until it gets helped. I will see a doctor eventually, but my question is, my good fellow PA'ers, is that... well, am I going mad and is this is what's going on? I've been depressed, but everyone has thought it's been the sole cause. However, I'd liek to point out my life was great up until I became consistantly masturbating.
From research, it says that masturbation for men can be beneficial for your prostate, over doing it can have bad effects. Not like, losing your hair or going blind, ahaha, but literally, sapping the energy from your body, which is what it feels like to me, and all the symptoms I described.
So, I think I've pinned the problem down... is there anything else you guys can recommend?

I'm sorry? I've been getting off nearly every day for.. shit, since I was 14? I don't have any of the problems you just described. I don't think masturbating causes depression. It's good that you are going to a doctor though. I'm not sure if abstaining from masturbating is going to solve your problems, but you might as well try it out. I'll tell you what, give it 4 days and you'll be as good as new in terms of the boredom-of-getting-off thing.
Like previously said, though, quitting for a while couldn't make things any worse, certainly. Try it out.

Daily masturbation is nothing unusual and I would doubt any source that said it was likely to be the cause of much of anything. The penis related issues may to due to incorrect masturbation (most likely: not cleaning yourself well, using a death grip).
The fact that you masturbate regularly even though you don't seem to enjoy it much any more is a symptom of depression, not a cause.

You have happened upon a load of bullshit, and you have swallowed it. It happens to all of us, every so often.

You do sound like you have other health issues and general depression. In addition, since you seem to grasp to the shame factor of masturbation as causing your ills, you may have emotional issues as well.
I'd recommend you go to at least two doctors of each type:
Two seperate, unrelated, doctors that are in internal medicine.
Two seperate, unrelated, doctors that are in psycological services - ie Pyschologist, Psychiatrist, Or Counseling.
The internal medicine folks are going to help you diagnose the urination, infection, and orgasm problem - they are probably inter-related.
The psyc folks are going to help you feel better generally - will help you pay attention, sleep properly, lose that general tired feeling, and make waking up an actual 'good' sensation.
The "not orgasming correctly" is, I suspect, a belief that you should be blasting cum all over the place. If you're masturbating every day you're not going to have huge volumes of semen.
And while yeah, everyone has pretty much covered that chocking the chicken isn't what's causing you to feel this way, you might still want to tone it down a bit as some people can have a harder time getting off with a real person if they're used to their hand.
I find it incredibly unlikely that spanking it once a day is what's causing these issues and from all the studies I've read it's actually quite healthy to masturbate. It tends to elevate the immune system, reduces depression, and in males is healthy for your prostate. The list for health benefits is actually longer, but those three are what come to mind right now without me looking it up.
Your research sounds a bit suspect, I'd check your sources. sounds like something else is going on there that may need the attention of a doctor. Especially if you are getting infections in your dong.

Do you masturbate so much that you don't shower or eat? Then you might have a problem. Otherwise I'd relate everything you've described to diet/exercise/hygiene and maybe existing emotional issues that need to be treated with greater care than spurious "masturbation research".

To the OP, you should also figure out whether you have any sort of problems with your own sexuality. You seemed a little quick and eager to pin 9000 things that have nothing to do with masturbation to masturbation.
I could be totally off, but it doesn't seem like a totally innocent mistake of believing some errant information... this sort of thing looks like it takes some active mental effort to swallow all that BS so eagerly.
Were your parents religious fanatics who were anti-sex or something? I mean, masturbation is pretty cool dude, nothing to be ashamed of. And once a day is definitely not some crazy high frequency.
No I don't think masturbation is the cause of your problem... Btw Masturbation isn't an exercise either. You do lose some water and bodily fluids... maybe not drinking enought water is the cause of all those muscle aches?
Male ejucation does cause sleepilness afterwards... it's nothing to do with fatique but after sex your brain releases endorphins which makes you sleepy... it's evolution's way of dealing with the after sex pillow talk.
I'm seeing a lot of symptome of depression in your post OP... I think the problem is just not exercising regularly, not going out and doing other things then surfing porn all day and a general lack of self-esteem.
Go out and meet people more often. No guarantees if you are ever going to meet the right one... but it beats spanking the monkey all day.
But Doctors are a great resource, guy! It's their job to help you with these problems.
I don't think you have the problem pinned down at all. You have some symptoms that sound pretty bad though:
I would reccomend seeing a medical doctor, telling him that these are your symptoms and asking him what you can do about it!

try doing it at night, last thing before bed. then you're not taking a bit energy dive in the middle of the day. i'm surprised nobody has asked or suggested "when" could make a big difference
Anyway, I would say that it's a symptom not a cause of your depression. You're bored and depressed with nothing to do so you whack off a lot. Makes sense to me. If you want to do something that solves both problems, maybe try it as a reward? Make it your goal every day to go out and try something new. If you succeed, then go home and beat your dick like it owes you money. If not, then better luck next time!*
