help finding a DnD game

ok. i realize that everyone under the sun has a DnD game going already. I scouted the Critical Failures forums. I found lots of games. the down side is that all of the games looked like they were far into the campaign already, and not really looking for someone to join.

i have played DnD about 4 separate times. i dont know a ton. i know i REALLY enjoyed playing. i also know that i can not find a DnD game anywhere near me. i figured this would be a good place to look.

i DO NOT want to DM, simply because i dont know enough to start up my own campaign, and i really want to enjoy adventuring for a while. can anyone help me out? either bring me along into a campaign, or direct me somewhere where i might have more luck? please help. i have been dying to play DnD ever since my last game (about a year ago now).

I have one that's recruiting for another eleven or twelve hours.

Otherwise, if you want a game here but don't want to DM, you're just going to have to wait for another game to show up.

I imagine in a couple weeks when the Dark Sun stuff hits the Character Builder there's going to be at least one or two games starting up in that setting. Are you familiar with 4th edition?
edit: Additionally if you're willing to not limit yourself to D&D there's always some games for other systems recruiting.

i think i would prefer to stick with D&D.

i am not SUPER familiar with 4E. i have played D&D about 4 times in my life, all about a year ago, but i am not SUPER familiar with D&D in general. i really enjoyed the game that i played the couple times we DID play, and am REALLY eager to get back in.

any idea what Dark Sun is going to change?

Well, it's just a setting. There's a couple additional races, both of which have had their stats posted in the currently running Dark Sun game thread, and the D&D discussion thread. There's slightly different rules for the existing races, divine classes don't really exist in that setting, and magic is a little different. It's a pretty cool setting.
If you subscribe to D&D Insider you'll get access to the Character Builder and the D&D Compendium which basically has all the mechanical rules from all the currently existing content, just none of the fluff. It's $10 a month, and if you just do it for one month, you'll retain access to everything you had in the Character Builder, though you lose the Compendium.
