Earth, 2060. A small group of colonists leaves the ravages of Earth for a distant planet orbiting Alpha Centauri’s primary star. Their ship, the United Nations Star Ship Unity, carries them on their journey to a new world and a new hope for human kind. Along the way a reactor malfunction damages the Unity, precipitating a crisis between the ship’s seven most powerful leaders. As they enter the Alpha Centauri system, the crew splits into seven distinct factions, divided not by nationality but by ideology, and their vision for the new world. After the ship breaks apart, the seven leaders guide their chosen crew down to the surface of planet, seeking their destiny beneath an alien sky.
The year is now 2150, and humanity has carved a niche for itself in this inhospitable environment. Early settlement was tough; the planet Chiron, on which they landed, is home to its own ecosystem and lifeforms. A thick carpet of Xenofungus prevents farming and mobility, while terrifying horrors known as Mind Worms terrorize the populace. Their effects were best documented in Lady Deirdre Skye’s “Our Secret War”;
As the writhing, teeming mass of Mind Worms swarmed over the outer perimeter, we saw the defenders recoil in horror. "Stay calm! Use your flame guns!" shouted the commander, but to no avail. It is well known that the Mind Worm Boil uses psychic terror to paralyze its prey, and then carefully implants ravenous larvae in the brains of its still-conscious victims. Even with the best weapons, only the most disciplined troops can resist this horrific attack.
And yet, despite these hardships, the Seven Factions that broke off from the Unity on that fateful day have grown to become great powers of technology, industry, military and cultural development. These groups are;
The Lord’s Believers, a fundamentalist faction led by Sister Miriam Godwinson, Unity’s chaplain and former citizen of The Christian States of America. They believe that Chiron is their promised land, and as such are distrustful of the other factions that made planetfall alongside them.
Gaia’s Stepchildren, an environmental faction led by Lady Deirdre Skye, Unity’s hydroponics officer and former citizen of Free Scotland. A largely pacifist people, the Gaians believe in preserving the sanctity of Chiron’s local life as well as cultivating plant life from Earth.
The Morganites, an industrial faction led by CEO Nwabudike Morgan, a Namibian tycoon who funded the Unity project and escaped Earth on it in secret. Eager to seek out wealth in this new world, they control a large section of the credit market.
The Peacekeeping Forces, a diplomatic faction led by Commissioner Pravin Lal, Unity’s chief medical officer and former citizen of India. Following in the footsteps of Earth’s United Nations, they wish to open diplomatic relations with any who would comply.
The Human Hive, a totalitarian faction led by Chairman Sheng-Ji Yang, Unity’s XO and former citizen of Great China. They prize themselves on their efficiency and social structure, but many other factions resent their police state attitude.
The Spartan Federation, a militaristic faction led by Colonel Corazón Santiago, the Puerto Rican security officer of The Unity. With a belief in the doctrine of might is right, they are a force to be reckoned with on the field of battle.
The University of Planet, a scientific faction led by the Russian physicist Academician Prokhor Zakharov, chief science officer aboard The Unity. Dedicating their resources to cutting edge research, they hope to unlock the secrets of new tech.
Sadly, these factions have failed to maintain peace on this alien soil, and battles have broken out across Chiron. Humanity now fights a war on two fronts; against the inhospitable lifeforms of Planet, and against their very own nature. Shadowy forces are at work and great secrets remain hidden. Learn these secrets, crush your enemies or find strength in Unity, and you may just find a future here in Alpha Centauri...

Welcome to Phalpha Centauri, the first main Phalla run by me, Daius. It is based on the 1999 turn based strategy game Sid Meier’s Alpha Centauri. A spiritual sequel to the Civilization series of 4X games, it is in my opinion one of the best games ever made. No prior knowledge of the series is necessary to play in this game as I will be giving you all the relevant information. However, those who do know more details about the game’s background may be able to put their know how to good use.
If you do not know the rules for playing in a Phalla, they can be found here. This is not a very standard game; it is a faction game that contains various mechanics that some may find controversial, and I can’t guarantee complete balance. But hey, the fun is in the finding out, isn’t it?
This game will accommodate a maximum of 70 players, but if we fall short of that number I will probably be able to scale it down accordingly. I aim to start the game on either Sunday or Monday afternoon, depending on circumstances. Days will likely end at 2AM GMT.

He held his arm too stiffly, and so was thrown back repeatedly, until at last I seized his forearm and snapped it back against itself. His training suffered while the arm healed, of course, but I felt this was a lesson he must learn early, and well.
