Even after all their nerfs, both these champions will win pretty much any 1v1 fight, or even win a 1v2 fight, in the hands of the right player.
Look at Voyboy, HotshotGG.
This is also why LeBlanc had to be nerfed. For her to escape the metagame, she had to be overpowered. If she's made "balanced", she's just not going to be viable because she doesn't AoE nuke. If you compare her damage to the damage an AoE'er would do to 3 people, her damage would be fine, it'd be much lower than 1/3rd the damage of galio+morgana+mf done on 5 people. But, it's not fun being instantly nuked down by one person when there is nothing you can do to counter her in that 1v1 fight. Yet, the game is balanced right now where 3 peoples aoe's can instantly kill 5 people, and that's why AoE ult champions are generally top picks.
So I certainly think LeBlanc was the most overpowered champion, but to the same accord she's going to not be that useful once balanced since she won't compete as a pick to someone with AoE's. She needed to be nerfed, and so do many AoE's, for her to become a viable pick along with many other champs.
They're so low on tier lists not because they're bad, but because they don't fit the metagame. It's the same reason why TF was ranked so low on Elementz tier list until Europe showed us their metagame.
Ezreal and Nidalee do amazing when you need 1 person dead, and to not die, but when you need 5 people dead in 5 seconds, they're awful.
It's simply because there are so many powerful AoE's, mainly ultimates, and so many of them have strong CC as well.
If you buffed Ezreal and Nidalee to do really well(Before, Ez did fit the metagame with AP Ezreal being viable, so ult hit hard and so did essence flux in AoE, not to mention healing aoe too), they'd just be overpowered in the situations they're good in now.
I play Ezreal a ton. I really think he's fine besides his ridiculously low 48(?) base damage.
If you want Ezreal and Nidalee to be viable, they don't need buffs, at least not very big ones. No, they're AMAZING at what they both do. They just don't do what the metagame calls for.
AoE's, especially the ultimates, need a nerf.
Just like long ago, all defense items had MR/Armor/Life reduced 10%, (edit, oh yeah there was the across the board heal nerf too that spanned over a few patches.) most AoE's need their damage cut 35-50%.
Amumu's ult is 300 damage base to each person, that's 900 if it hits just 3 people, not to mention the 1500 on 5. How many single target ults do that much? Malzahar is 650 base, IIRC, to one person. Amumu's will do almost as much if it just hits 2 people.
It should be 200, if you ask me, and that's just one example.
Simple request is to balance AoE ults as if they're going to be hitting 3 people. They currently seem to be balanced as if they're going to hit 1-2, which means if they hit 3 people they're doing 50%-300% more damage than a single target ult would be balanced for.
Maybe more AoE's could be made like Katarina's, just hitting at most 3 people.
Take Karthus' ult, what if it just hit the 3 lowest health people, or the 3 closest ones?
What about dropping Lux's ratio to 0.6 but giving it a blind and dropping the cooldown on her Q and E skills?(Not quite so low since it's an avoidable line skillshot, not as easy to hit as MF, Galio's, Amumu's, etc. Or since she's a skillshot based champion like Ezreal, you could have one one of her skills reduce all skills cooldowns like mystic shot does, or bring back the 15% cdr on a maxed W.)
The 0.85 AP ratio on Galio's ult is just bonkers, it should be half that. At half that ratio, it's going more damage than any single target ult if it hits 3 people, still.
What if MF's ult were projectiles with collision and minions or a tank would block the bullets? Like Ashe's Volley.
Sona's 0.7 ratio is 3.5 when it hits 5 people, that's just ridiculous with how easy she stacks soulstealer. It should be 0.3 or 0.4 if you ask me.
Maybe Morgana's ult could be 200/300/400(+1.25) ratio, but the damage is split by the number of people hit. IE if you hit two people, you'd be doing 100/150/200(+0.625) to each of them. Good 1v1, but in a teamfight it's more about the CC.
/edit, thought I'd add more since there were lots of replies in reference to certain ones.
Xin's could have the damage scale down to as low as 25% at the end of the AoE. That way, you hit the person you dash onto for the full amount, but the teamates around them don't get so Deathfiregrasp'd.
Vlad's.. isn't the damage amp enough alone, both in a 1v1 and teamfight situation? Usually I kill people from the damage amp before it even pops the damage in a 1v1 situation, unless they flash. The damage on it really feels like a cheap backup to me.
Nunu. Oh god, this thing rarey does full damage, but when it does.. But even if it was a 0.75 Ratio and the base damage cut some, it'd still be a very scary slow-motion Janna ult. could have the full damage happen Half way through, and the rest of the duration just be there to CC people longer. Giving consume a purpose outside of the laning phase could compensate him, too.
Annie just has too high a ratio, or have the damage split on number of people hit like Gragas' body slam. No special mechanic changes needed to compensate it. A buff to her Q's ratio could compensate it, though.
Want one for Ezreal too? Guy I like so much? Well I think his ult is like Ashe's. Her ult has a 1.0 ratio and is splash, but it's not a staple for an AoE comp. Ezreal and Ashe are AD champions. But something like 25% reduced damage for everyone champion it hits would work fine. IMPORTANTLY not having it reduce for minions hit, like Sivir's Q, but just champions. It has an 8% reduction on each hit now, which does little for AoE against champions, and just makes it worse for clearing a big creep wave.
Possible exceptions?
Gragas doesn't really synergize with AoE teams, he is a counter to them, so his feels like it's fine or shouldn't be nerfed as much as some others.
Fiddlesticks already has low ratio, though maybe a bit high base damage, and his ult has no cc or special-ness.
Blitzcrank doesn't really run into people and do his ult. He's not a part of the AoE teamcomp's from what I've seen.
Anivia's is a smallish AoE, close range, very low base damage despite a decent AP ratio of 0.25/sec. It's mainly used to apply chill because of the high mana cost, but maybe it'd still need to be nerfed with the others.
It'll be tricky to remake them viable picks after nerfing their AoE ults, in some cases, but if it were me I'd, for the most part, nerf all the top AoE ult's without revising their whole kit. It'd take too much time to revise the whole kits on 15 or so champions. Worse case is that for 2-4 weeks champions like Nidalee, Ezreal, TF, Yi, so on become the top picks. I'm sure there will be some knee-jerk "I'm not picking Karthus anymore qq" for a while, but after that it can be figured out how to compensate for their AoE ult being nerfed, if they even need compensation at all. Those champions had their months in the spotlight of being top-pick, to put it harshly.
Yes, some of these champions, if not all, will probably need buffs elsewhere after their AoE ult's are nerfed, but that's to be determined after said nerfs are made.
These AoE ults really need some nerfing. But most AoE non-ults like Volley, Force Pulse, Essense Flux, etc don't seem to be much of the problem.
The Goal is not to make these champions useless, but not to make fights over when 3 people drop AoE ults.
Most of these AoE ults have CC, which is generally worth more than damage. They could certainly have one of their other skills buffed to compensate if they prove to be too bad of a pick. Personally I think Galio would still be a good pick even if his Ult hardly did any damage at all. A big AoE taunt is so powerful, even on its long cooldown.
Then you'll get your Ezreal, Nidalee, and so-many-champions buff.

So I'm pretty glad I found this thread, because that means I can stop solo queu'ing all the time Do I just hop on vent or do you guys organize beforehand?
Also, on topic: how I jungle Akali? Keep in mind I'm only lvl24 so I can't go really deep in masteries. When laning, I usually rune her mpen reds and quints, cdr blues and manaregen/5 yellows because I have nothing else. My items are something like: longsword to proc spell vamp, boots (swiftness or mercs) hextec revolver, rylais, rageblade and finnish hextec gunblade (with some armour or mr depending on opponents). Any advice appreciated!

Gangplank is so fun. He brought me out of my losing streak. Late-game farmed plank is ridiculous with 80+% crit and 300+ AD. I know he's not top tier or anything, but so enjoyable. Minuteman skin needs to go on sale.

I think they should just try lowering aoe damage across the board based on how many champions the spell hits. 1-2 100%, 3 90%, 4 80%, 5 70%. You still end up doing more total damage the more champions you hit but it's at least a bit less of a rape train.

If they nerf aoe to do reduced damage based on the amount of players you hit it will encourage a playstyle counter to what you actually want to achieve.
Avoiding 5 on 5 teamfights and pushing sidelanes is a completely viable and often overlooked strategy. The main problem with aoe is its a bit too big of an area compared to the size of the lanes. Its hard to avoid getting hit by an aoe while still being in a position to do damage, If you want to nerf aoe but keep it viable as a strategy I would reduce all major aoes across the board in radius 20%. (Major, not including skills with a small aoe component or neglegable damage). IF you nerf aoe to do less damage per person it grabs it means that all an enemy team has to do to completely counter your team is grab a cloak, and ball up.
And that is completely counter intuitive to what you want AoE abilities to do.
Enemy team burns all its aoe ults on your team, your team is still sitting pretty at half health or better.
I get so tired of people and their e-honor. Had a game last night with a newish Kat player, and a couple of ranged dps who for whatever reason decided to go kamakazi. Game starts out ok, but our mid ends up feeding their evelyn like crazy and before long she's so over leveled that she basically spends the rest of the game killing at will. By late mid the kill count is like 3 to 1 in their favor, and our Kat has decided to go jungling in the enemy's jungle. She promptly ignores multiple warnings of incoming ganks and continues to die while we're trying to defend our inner towers. After they take a tower I issue a surrender, and two of the fuckers on my team vote no. I just don't get it, why do people insist on playing out a horrible game that they had already lost over 10 minutes ago?

Actually Sheen isn't that good because it doesn't help your ult damage.. base damage only forever. Don't get me wrong, it's synergistic (yeah? that's the word, right?) but it's suboptimal. Attack speed and armor/magic resistance are where it's at for Nasus bros.
