I eat peoples corpses, I fried the NCR soldiers at Helios One for fun, dumped radioactive waste all over the legion because I wanted to see what happened, shoot random people for their stuff constantly, rampantly steal everyones medical supplies the wastes over and use merchants as target practice for my orbital death laser.
And this game thinks I am currently a Paladin Karma wise.
-Those guys are dead anyway, you're preventing them from going to waste.
-NCR had no idea what they were dealing with, better they be removed before they realized the power of what they had.
-It's the Legion so who cares.
-Those random people were rapists and thieves.
-Those doctors and merchants were using their goods to oppress the poor.

I murdered everyone at the Mormon Fort and ate the whole lot of them as well. That's because I got lazy and stole something where people could see though.
It was ultimately their loss and Robodog and I ate them all.
Alright, my latest mod "Gun Runners Depot I" had a caravan dependency problem. I have since fixed that (I think?)! Anyone that downloaded it that doesn't have the steam version of the game will have to download an optional file from the nexus that fixes it.
hey, quick question - I'm finding mods to enhance my next playthrough, and I've gotten some pretty good ones from this thread and the last one. I'm currently going with (most are pretty self-explanatory):
-Veronica fix
-CONELRAD (really, anything that gives me more than "Big Iron" and "Johnny Guitar" every time I go near a radio would work, but this one sounds pretty cool)
-Better Binoculars
-Better That Gun
-MTUI - I actually threw this one in about halfway through my last game because the default was too annoying
-PipWare UI NV - makes the Status tab of the Pip-Boy all one page
The decision now is do I go for Fellout or URLWNV for making nights feel more like night and removing stupid brown filters? I've done a small bit of playing with Fellout, and it's fucking DARK but I'm wondering if it isn't TOO dark... any opinions from people who've tried/used both? also, any other recommended mods? something to remove invisible walls, probably, and... I'm sure there's another one I was interested in but I can't think of it right now.
EDIT: Found Better Casinos while looking for things pretty much just like that - minor gameplay tweaks that don't totally break the experience. While it could be said that being able to bet/win more breaks the economy, we all know that the economy is already broken - it's simple to get tens (if not hundreds) of thousands of caps if you know what you're doing. this is just so that when I do decide to take a break from wasteland prospecting and hit the casinos, I don't have a max bet of 200 no matter if I'm in Primm or at the Ultra-Luxe.
also, speaking of the Ultra-Luxe, they don't have slots, do they? I like winning three times the casino limit on a lucky pull.
is it that hard to get bad karma? All I've done is steal everything that I can and I'm very evil, though I haven't wiped out the powder gangers or legion yet. 'Ve killed quite a few fiends and done some other good things, was up to neutral before I plummeted back down to v evil

My mod list has the ones I'm rolling with. I prefer URWL to Fellout because, as you say, Fellout's nights are just too dark. The Strip also gives off a really nice light at night with URWL too.
There's an invisible wall remover at the NV Nexus which works quite well, but I can't check because I'm at work. Searching for "wall" and organising by downloads should find it though.
Suriko: cool. thanks much. grabbing more stuff now. also, I found this: Intrusive Invisible Wall Remover, which was pretty much the only search result for "wall" so I assume it's the one you're talking about.

On my independent Vegas run, I ended with Evil karma, since I shot everyone NCR, stole everything, and shot more random people. If you play Legion, you're more likely to get Evil, while NCR gives lots of Good karma.
Finally cleared it, siding with NCR and generally sabotaging things for the Legion at every possibility.
So glad the epilogues are back in, and I loved that talking down the Legate involved multiple speech checks of increasing difficulty - and there appeared to be more than one path to doing so.
Otherwise I was kind of let down by the finale. It felt so repetitive and sudden, the way they were just jumping you around and then it was on you to push back. Both the NCR and the BoS kept getting rolled by the Legion, and I wasn't even that impressed when the Boomers showed up. I just kept thinking "Why are you idiots bombing the dam? We're trying to keep this thing!" I mean, it would've made more sense to bomb the camp directly or something.
The rest of the game kicked ass in so many ways, however. Quests were great and often took unexpected turns, party members were helpful, factions dealt with each other in complicated ways, and every quick jaunt to some isolated corner of the wasteland turned into something much more interesting. It's cool how quests not only have multiple solutions, but multiple ways to get those solutions; science and repair checks were godsends as time savers. There was no more screwing around with identical metros to get somewhere and I couldn't be more thankful.
And yet if I'm honest, I kinda miss DC. The radio, as mentioned, worked better there. Nobody stole the show quite like President Eden, and songs repeated way too often here; by hour ten I had heard Johnny Guitar a few dozen times and it made me want to punch the speakers. DC actually felt like a war zone, and even though it was a boring hassle to use the metro, I enjoyed exploring and seeing what was going on in the next section. Here, Vegas felt kind of simple. A couple good quests, the starting point for a major plot branch, a couple self-absorbed crime families that aren't nearly as powerful as they think they are, and that's it. Lots of choices, to be sure, but I felt like after a couple hours of poking around casinos I'd seen everything of non-plot-related interest.
Not to say 3 is the better title, of course; clearly Vegas trumps it in almost every category, and I'm already gearing up for a second playthrough. But there's something missing here, and I can't quite put my finger on it.
Aside: While I like the more complex armor and damage threshold system, it's a shame that it basically made the gatling laser a waste of time and ammo. Energy weapons in general really got the shaft, even against light armor.
So I think I'm finally going to pick up the game off of steam, however I want to be mod-savy before starting my first playthrough.
So for the NMC texture pack there's like 5 different download options; I'd like to install the beefiest textures as possible, however I'd prefer it if my game doesn't stutter whenever I exit into the wasteland. What's worked for everyone else? Any recommendations? For comparison my rig:
after having done the goodsprings stuff in my newly modded game (explosives, barter, melee - I want that barter perk that makes all the little shit weigh half as much), I like the little oomph that URWL gives the scenery, and the nights are darker but not "holy shit I can't see five feet in front of me" like Fellout's were. The binoculars are actually useful now, and CONELRAD is great. there's at least one blues song that I've heard, a couple fifties-rock-atom-bomb songs, a couple "atomic love songs" (really, the best way I can describe it), and:
"You better pray to the Lord when you see those flyin' saucers, it might be the comin' of the Judgement Day"
also, it took about 45 minutes before I heard a song for the second time! and even that was followed by something new. I have a new soundtrack for prospectin' the Mojave.
So how far do you think I could get with a complete sociopath run? How badly do you think I would break the game?
I'm planning to kill everyone I meet.
well, you probably won't be able to do a lot of quests, but killing everyone in the Mojave should get you plenty of XP. And the robot in the kiosk doesn't ask questions about where you keep getting the loot. I think you'll become very familiar with him, as pretty much every other merchant breathes (and is using up your oxygen).
With john henry eden you're like LOL YOUR LOGIC FLAWED SIR and he explodes
With this though,
you have a genuinely good argument, granted it's unlikely to sway him, but maybe given the big loss they just suffered.
Exactly.
The arguments were grounded in reality, it wasn't just Jedi Mind Trickery. "You haven't thought this through, and here's why." *BUT I AM THE EAST* "Yeah, and it took all of you just to take this dam, which you haven't done yet. No, seriously, you haven't thought this through."
I've got my complaints about the events leading up to that point, but that confrontation was awesome.
This time I'm rolling up a more dedicated tough guy. Still a nice, reasonable fellow, but unfortunately he goes on a psychotic rampage over perceived impoliteness, regardless of his opinions on the relevant group to that point.
Finally cleared it, siding with NCR and generally sabotaging things for the Legion at every possibility.

I'm actually working on a mod for this right now. I'm making the energy weapons at least as powerful as their ballistic counterparts. For instance, the laser rifle now does 20 damage at 100% repair, instead of 15 damage at 100% repair.
So how far do you think I could get with a complete sociopath run? How badly do you think I would break the game?
I'm planning to kill everyone I meet.
You can't kill EVERYONE. I think it's still possible to complete the game.
I think if you piss ever faction off, the Yes Man questline is the only one open to you. As such, I don't think he's killable.
Nope, you can kill every single person who's not a recruited companion. Yes, even the one in the spoiler.
Really? I can recall threatening to kill that spoiler. Wild Card spoilers:
Yes Man says that his personality is being constantly backed up. If that shell is destroyed, it'll just download to another securitron. I didn't try to kill him after he said that, but I took it to mean that he will always respawn.

You can kill him...
And he does respawn, 24 hours later.
But of course.
I mean, Victor does the same exact thing. I've killed him every time he showed up even.
Soooo I think I installed a mod that either took away the minimum damage on weapons or seriously jacked up DT values, because I just watched a Giant Scorpion demolish Mojave Outpost. None of my or the NPCs' weapons could even put a scratch on the thing. I had to reload, console up, and disable the thing just not fail several quests.

Was it that leakless DT mod that got posted on day 1? I know that can make Giant Radscorpions absolute nightmares to deal with inbetween the shittons of HP and the pissant damage NCR trooper weapons tend to do.
If not, welp, roll out the list of what'cha got running.

Honestly, I think the minimum damage should be raised on miniguns.
I don't know, I do like DT in theory and it does actually make some enemies more challenging, but it needs work here and there.
